Akubra Overload
What do you think of the 1950s date? Akubra has been making hats for some time, but older Akubras don't seem to show up very often, and we don't seem to have a timeline of different stages in the history of their hats (as we do for other hat makers). -

Nothing new under the sun.
The portrait of a lady with the enormous 3-layer lace collar doesn't seem like a good example of a fashion that repeats. Same thing with the (also enormous) square collars worn by the men. Northern Europe in the seventeenth century may have taken the collar as far as it can go in a certain... -

Agreed! A few years ago, I managed to stop buying bowlers, but I'm not sure why I made the effort to stop. It wasn't destroying my life or something. -

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?
I have two of these. This one, from Art Fawcett, I wear upbrim. The other one, made by Graham Thompson, I wear with the brim snapped down. I'm sure my neighbors think it's just one hat that I wear every single day throughout the summer months. -

Lost Worlds Horsehide Vintage Trench
My sense is that Aloysius is correct. Here is a useful post from Rabbit comparing the shapes of various overcoats from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Some narrow shoulders, some wide and built out. @Mythic, your coat looks great.- Denton

Cats and leather jackets
Some of my cat's depredations. I was wearing this A-1 jacket when the cat pounced on my shoulder and dug in her claws to anchor herself.
