OK, so I discovered something I didn't know I had. I was at the movies the other night, and was kind of aimlessly fiddling with my derby, and I felt an elastic cord. Turns out my derby has a wind trolley :). I was even able to use it today when out with a bit heavier wind than I'd normally...
So I decided, given my penchant for the Derby, that my facial hair needed a complete restyle to fit the vibe better. Mustache wax is an entirely new rabbit hole...
So yeah, I'm not a baseball cap guy, except for walking the dogs. Nor am I actually a sports fan. However, as a Cincinnati area native and resident for the majority of my life (with a stint in CT for 14 years in the middle), I'm pretty much required to wear this hat for this week, everywhere I...
I have a Scala fur felt Fedora that I stopped wearing several years ago. I thought Mrs Aahzz had donated it, but I have discovered that it was in fact shoved in a corner. So, I'd like to restore it to wearable shape. What is my best technique for cleaning the hat itself, definitely cleaning...
Well, downstairs near the garage exit has already been rearranged, and R2 has been replaced by this:
That said, I had let Mrs Aahzz list R2 for sale (she runs an Ebay business). Now that I think about it, he'll still work perfectly upstairs in my office/recording studio where he can continue...
Alice was indeed awesome as always :). I think this was my 8th time seeing him. Took my 20-year-old daughter and my 81-year-old mother, they're my concert buddies. Venue is nice, but the lower level is completely flat - so even though we were in wheelchair accessible seating for mom, she...
I'm off to see Alice Cooper kick off his tour in Cincinnati tonight. Weather is mildly snowy and unpleasant. Wonderfully, the city has announced a Bengals Pep Rally in the same district as the show, The Banks, so parking might be fun and crowds getting too and from could be large and rowdy...
Thanks! Off-the-shelf - I didn't ask, but I've heard Gus has stopped doing customs. I should have asked, though the price may have scared me. Gus did reshape the brim for me and we had a nice chat, which I enjoyed greatly.
I suppose I should have introduced myself here first - sorry! Apparently I signed up here in 2011, but never posted
Hi, I'm Aahzz. I've been a fan of hats since my teens, if not before. Got my first Fedora in my early teens - wish I knew what it was besides a Fedora, but I didn't pay that...
It's our favorite place to vacation :D
We try to go every other year, and stay on site for 7 days. We usually go in December, so it's still Florida but I can get away with the Derby. I do have some summer weight hats for when it gets warmer there.
Made the trip back today. Gus wasn't there yesterday afternoon, but he was there today, and I had a delightful chat with him. He had my hat perfectly set to my preferences, and I didn't realize he was going to, but had imprinted my initials in the sweat band. I feel privileged to have a hat...
Thanks! I was also in a black utilikilt, in the interest of full disclosure :) The Gryffindor ribbon was because I was at Universal Orlando, and I do love The Wizarding World.
