    The Deck Jacket thread.

Looks vintage. Been looking myself mostly on eBay and Etsy for one of those but found prices beyond reasonable. Bronson replica will probably be good enough.

Will hopefully receive a Bronson N-1 in navy blue today

Sound advice, thanks. Maybe instead of a hot soak, just put it through a warm wash and then a dryer spin with a softener sheet. I suspect the latter's heat will make more a difference in shrinking. It's a roll of the dice.

Will hopefully receive a Bronson N-1 in navy blue today

Wonder what effect soaking these in hot water will have. Details on site include: Outer: 12.5oz jungle cross fabric, 100% cotton; Inner: 70% wool, 30% polyester; and Dry clean only. Usually take a 40 but am likely to buy a 42 hoping the soaking will shrink it to the perfect size. Concerned a...

My father's WWII original and this image brought me to this thread. Found the ones worth buying though aren't cheap.

Input on Quality and Fit of Less Expensive A-2 Jackets

Thanks, so I've read here. Vintage jackets are usually only a fraction of a new jacket's price and are often of better quality. Clothing is one of the few items worth buying used. Trick is to wait long enough and to pull the trigger when one comes along. Ebay is good for this kind of stuff...

Input on Quality and Fit of Less Expensive A-2 Jackets

Finally settled on an older, Thinsulate insulated LL Bean Flying Tiger from eBay. This is the one with a "Made in USA" tag and a one-piece back. Figured why buy new when there's a good used one in supposedly excellent, pre-owned condition available. Guess we'll see about that. It's a size 40R...

Input on Quality and Fit of Less Expensive A-2 Jackets

Took delivery of Excelled A-2 today and noticed immediately that unlike Cooper or Avirex jackets, this jacket features neither snaps nor fasteners at either the throat or the waste; the zipper cover flaps freely. Looks almost as if they're missing but a call to leathercoatsetc CS confirmed that...

Input on Quality and Fit of Less Expensive A-2 Jackets

For those interested, it appears a major drawback from ordering an A-2 from leathercoatsetc.com is that they take forever to ship. Ordered mine on 1-18-11 and although web site says delivery will be within 7-10 days, it hasn't arrived. According to CS representative, they use a Just-In-Time...

Input on Quality and Fit of Less Expensive A-2 Jackets

Talk about bargain bombers, for all of you leather jacket hoarders out there (I'm up to 9 and likely an even ten with an A-2 I'm considering), BargainOutfitters.com offers the Mossi Men's Leather Bomber Jacket for $79.97. Bag free shipping via coupon code "BH661". This just might be good money...

Input on Quality and Fit of Less Expensive A-2 Jackets

Yeah, leathercoatsetc.com has that one too. With the 25% off, comes to a little over $97 for regular size but their $17 shipping charge puts them over Kohls. And then there's sales tax. This is the style I ordered. Anyway, been considering used Cooper goatskin A-2s on ebay. Most can be...

Input on Quality and Fit of Less Expensive A-2 Jackets

Just ordered a couple of goat skin A-2 jackets today from leathercoatsetc.com as the site has a sale on them in addition to an extra 25% off. Read in some post how Excelled is considered by many to be a low-end manufacturer. Can always return them within 30 days. Have been in the market for...
