According to Lee Valley, they originated in 18th century Wales (for miners I'm guessing), and then Ireland.
I have the Lee Valley jacket and it's great for gardening and such.
Google At The Front for authentic WWII khakis. Nice heavy cotton, button fly, high rise.
Bills Bullard Field Pants are good too. Try ebay for good prices on Bills. I tried Bills M1's but they wore out prematurely. Maybe my washing machine?
Filson's tin cloth are good for rough...
Yes, they're button fly, 1961MJS. If you're used to zippers, they take some getting used to.
I was a fan of Bill's khaki's, but all three pairs wore out within 6-8 months. As recommended, I let them drip dry too. It may have been the fault of my washing machine, or maybe that's how long...
At The Front Khaki Pants
I just got a pair of ATF pants and they are very good. Almost identical to my WWII originals (1945 dated). Same high rise and cloth weight very similar.

Here's my list:
1) Good Wear A2 21996 FQHH. Just a beautiful jacket!!
2) ELC Cable A2 Goat.

4) Grais FQ Steerhide Barnstormer style from mid 1960's.
5) Lost Worlds B3.
6) On...
Belgian Leather Coat
The date of manufacture is by the maker's label on the coat's lining.
There is another small white label there that had, very faintly, 1952.
I had to return mine because it was too small. Medium is about a 38" chest, so I'm swapping it for a large.
The condition of...

I have a Belgium jacket on order. I just used their general sizing charts to figure out my size; I have a forty chest so I ordered a medium. Mind me asking what size you ordered and did you find the size accurate according to their chart?
Thanks,

Justin Ropers
Fletch, these Frye's are very similar to Justin Ropers. Ropers are technically "cowboy boots" but I believe the Blue Angels used to wear them as flight gear.
They seem to sell them everywhere in the States and in all sizes. I own two pair, black and something called Apache...
