It's a little late to gather my collection for pictures, but tomorrow...
I am up to five with one more on the way from Bulgaria. Two of those may go back on the auction block as I have refined my taste in style.
Edit: I'll throw in one pic for the heck of it. This is a new Borsalino...
There used to be a care section on Brent Black's website that recommended putting orange peels in the hat box. You would have to eat a lot of oranges to keep fresh peels in your hat box(es).
Prior to the white cotton "dixie cup" the US Navy issued a straw hat. Your ad is at least 40 years after the end of that uniform item so I guess it's not the same hat/style. Feel free to ignore my rambling.
Here is my contribution. This is my great-grandfather. I'm guessing the picture was taken in the 1920s or 1930s. Maybe the 1940s at the latest.
I found a lot of other pictures of family, but almost none with hats. Even the picture of this man's father around the time of the Civil War was...
Here is the Super Barbisio I picked up off the "Buy it Now" deal on eBay. This is the most luxurious felt I have ever, uh, felt. My 1930s Borsalino Trionfo feels like course wool next to this hat. My Borsalino Grande Luxe doesn't even compare to this hat.
After a good brushing I think it...
Well the hat came in last week. It's a pretty low quality hat. The crown is kind of soft, but you could chop wood with the brim. And the sweatband is the cheapest I've seen. It started to tear when I turned it down, and not because it was brittle. The sweatband is stamped with "Imported by...
I should be able to stuff enough $5s in the sweatband for cross country bus fare before it fits my head. Hopefully it will fit somewhere between 7 1/8 to 7 3/8.
...so I bought a grey hat.

I really didn't expect my offer to be accepted so I didn't ask silly questions like what size it might be. It will be hard waiting on this one.
Where is that shop at? Maybe I'll go back to Norfolk one day.
Dinerman,
While it's not a shop you could go to the Museum of the Confederacy to see hats worn by famous people. I've been drawn to the hats there even before I started wearing anything other than baseball caps.
I will miss seeing the before and after pictures of the magic you work with old hats. Now we can look forward to more pictures of custom jobs.
Will you still block Panama bodies?
My unlined TRIONFO from this seller is my favorite hat. It had to be stretched a size, but turned out great. I can't wait until it gets cool enough to wear it. Since I live in Florida that might be January.
I bid on two of his last batch, but lost both. If he has a 5 1/2 in the next batch...
Borsalino? I have a few extra bucks in my paypal acct... Are these all new pins or do some go back a little?
The only hat I have with a pin is my Brent Black panama. He puts a BBB pin in each hat he sells. I didn't see any reason to remove it.
I hope you will also offer them to us who can't (yet) affort one of your custom hats. One of these would make a great Christmas present for my wife to buy me...
If it's a 4 1/2 (FR) that should be a 7 (US). If you wear a 7 1/8 then you should be able to stretch it one size. I stretched an old Borsalino that turned out great.
An antique stretcher would pay for itself in no time if you bought size 7 hats and stretched them to 7 1/8.
