    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I am happy to say that we are very much into WP season this side of the Pond. I have worn a WP every day this week.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Hi John The Brigadier was always my favourite character in the 1970s Dr Who series (when I was a schoolboy). Funnily enough it was the time I first started wearing WPs and I have been doing so ever since. I'm pleased to hear that it is Fall in PA. Over here it is indeed WP weather and I am...

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

New Mexico is very high on my list of US States to visit (I have so far been on the East and West Coasts but nowhere else in your country). I shall bring my Commando Sweater - or rather one or two of them, as I have not just the olive but the Navy and many other colours!

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I love it! I have the Commando Sweater (or Woolly Pully) but tell me about the very all-American jacket and I’ll see if I can get something like it here in London.

    Fishermen's sweaters site

It is the exact same sweater - and I see it’s available in both Ecru and Navy. If ordering from Belgium is more convenient for you, you should certainly go for it!

    Fishermen's sweaters site

Outdoor Knitwear’s ‘The Submariner’ would suit you. Mine is not too thick but very comfortable. They are available in Ecru, Navy (which mine is) and Black.

Have any of your sports interest revived in recent years?

That’s a really great story and heartening as well. Thank you for sharing it. Borussia Mönchengladbach are a great team, by the way. 6th in Bundesliga currently.

Have any of your sports interest revived in recent years?

At school and college I played Rugby and avidly followed the game. Since then, although I remained vaguely interested, I concentrated on other interests, mainly the arts and outdoor pursuits such as hiking. Now, after several decades, I suddenly find that I am closely following everything...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Another nice WP image to set the tone for autumn: The Brigadier (Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, played by Nicholas Courtney) in the original ‘Dr Who’ series.

    Autumnal Thoughts........

Anyone else longing for autumn (or Fall)? …It seems tantalisingly close now and I can’t wait. Somehow I feel it more strongly this year than ever.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Autumn and WP season come earlier for us than for you, @Peacoat. Not early enough for me, but within reach.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

RAF chaps in their WPs. Looking at this photo makes me think longingly of autumn (Fall to my American friends), which now seems tantalisingly close but still weeks away!

    Autumnal Thoughts........

Keats was the inspiration. On JRM, some wag described him as ‘a barmaid’s idea of posh’.

    Autumnal Thoughts........

London in summer is a rehearsal for Hell. … I look forward to the ‘season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’ - and chill winds - and SWEATERS!!!

I am sorry to hear that. WP weather is clinging on here, I am happy to say. I have been wearing my Navy and Black WPs this week.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

British lighthouse keeper, 1980s or possibly 1990s? Unfortunately we no longer have manned lighthouses.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I know my US geography and the accompanying cultures quite well. On this theme, I read a book last year on Hoodoo in the Mid-South, with a focus on Memphis.

El Niño. Here it has meant more rain than usual. You might be surprised to hear this, but London is one of the driest areas of the UK.
