I might be wrong but I don't think members of this forum are the ones spending the astronomical sums on Whippets. But then again I am interested in who is? There is a seeming level irrationality to these purchases, I mean why Whippets, why not Playboys or Flagships or pick your Stetson.
It is nuts. It's the Holland tulip craze. What I worry about is counterfeits, how hard would it be to have a stamp made that could mimic that stamp on the sweatband. I mean when the only difference between a 50$ Royal Stetson and 500$ Whippet is that little stamp.
How many hats do you own? Or at what point does obsession become compulsion. At what point does a hobby become covetousness. When does the acquisition of hats that don't even fit us become hoarding. The same half a dozen people make up 90% of the posts here. many of you already own over 100...
I remember that book. I think it had something about what were the best colleges to be kicked out, some kind of status issue I believe. I'm from Chicago and I remember Lake Forest college on the north shore being one of them.

The truth is I don't mind Dissecting minutia, it can be both fun and enlightening. and the heavens know I have learned tons of stuff that I would have not have had access to any where else but here. But I do think some times we do have to be reminded that it really is all for fun. And Bartender...
This is funny!:eusa_clap We tend to take ourselves a little too seriously at times don't we. Notice I said we, I include myself lest anyone think I'm picking on them.
Wow 12 bucks, man did that fall through the cracks. It happens, I just got a 50's Bianchi strat clone for 15. In a land of 400 dollar Whippets there are plenty of good deals still to be had.
All cleaned up and ready to go! My 25.10$ 1930's Dobbs cross country, what a steal. Hat was perfectly clean just needed a little steam and a hand bash. Look at the size of that crown! In my opinion this is the perfect 30's hat, 2" brim and a skyscraper crown. The felt is even lighter than my...
