Thank you, ladies!
Modern fabric, available at fabric.com :) I plan to make this dress several more times in all different fabrics! I love it. Perfect for spring!
1930s-style skirt I freestyled:
It hangs off my waist because of my 20 lbs weight loss (I made this a year ago!)

Far from it! (LOL, I'm also "Joe's Sweetheart."..haha!) I like to dress appropriate for the occasion. I work in a trucking terminal kicking tires so I wear jeans, t-shirt, and jacket to work with my hair in pigtails. It would be silly to wear heels and a handmade 30s dress! When I go out, I...
No one has been in this thread for over 3 years! Hard to believe! But I'll bump it up because I just made this again. This dress isn't really my aesthetic (I'm a 30s gal), but I love making it in novelty fabric. I also shortened the skirt to just above the knee.

A year to lose 20. I started the regime on December 30, 2012. I was 170 lbs. Unacceptable for me. I hadn't weight that much since high school (20 years prior!!) But I had some bad things happen 2010-2012, when I gained all the weight. I am now pretty much stress-free, which helps.
Recording my calories on MyFitnessPal, eating most of my calories from protein, and running almost every day. I actually eat MORE and am losing like crazy. I used to only eat cereal, pizza, and sushi. Took out the first two...lol. I used to like my beer, too. Gave that up. I used to not...
Thank you! Gave up sewing for years because of a 30lbs weight gain. I was outside the most common vintage pattern sizes and I am terrible at resizing. I'm back down to a 1930s size 20, heading for an 18! So happy I can sew again.
My experience might be a bit different, but a few years ago I learned to sew and began to wear only 1930s dresses, shoes, makeup, and hair. It carried on for about a year until my husband came out and told me he wasn't attracted to me when I dressed that way. It stung. I was unhappy for a...
On Saturday i got two compliments in one day. In a shop in Jersey a woman said to me "you have the pinup look" (which I'm guessing is a compliment since she took the time out to inform me...lol). Funny, I was wearing a workout tennis skirt, a roller derby t-shirt, and TOE SHOES. And I still...
Nice, Miss Slapstick!
The only people who give me grief for my tattoos are my grandmother and my dad...lol. But they can! When I get a new one my grandmother just gives me the "Why, you!" face. lol My dad always asks me if they are real. lol They don't love me any less, though, and...
And who cares what others think? lol I know I don't. Only a few people's thoughts matter to me. Random person on the street I'll never see again or clown on the Internet -- not my issue. Those who let others' "thoughts" run their lives are sad. I used to be that way. Let myself be free...
Only people on the Internet say "I love your vintage look, but tattoos ruin it" ;) lol I've had nothing but compliments about my tattoos and how they "go" with my vintage look!
A few more of mine:
Ode to silent movies!
Slightly altered Houtkamp design on the back of my calves.
Archie!!!!
