I just got back from shopping with my wife, and I noted today a number of guys, young and old, wearing non-baseball hats. Except for a few tourists wearing Panamas, the other hats I saw were cheap-looking, larger-brimmed hats that the wearers probably got at Urban Outfitters or one of the other...
It's pretty obvious that the author of the piece knows nothing about hats, other than what he's gathered in the last few days since he met the singer at a party. From what I remember of my days in Manhattan, many of the people who wrote such stuff were recent Ivy grads and trust-fund babies who...
I've just read through this whole thread because I'm too lazy to get up. Does this mean that if I don't button the fly on my jeans sick children will die?
Eve - you might want to give it a little time. I've noticed that a lot of folks feel the CD's are a bit much when they first get one, but after awhile they get used to it and start to love it. That's what happened to me. Also, I'll second the comment on the Deluxe sweatbands: they always feel...
I love the logic: the hat should be an extension of your style -- so buy one of these "lived-in, pre-distressed styles!" BTW, a friend gave me a BoH cd and I listened to it once, hoping for something interesting. Not a thing.
Thanks here as well. I went ahead and ordered a pair of the Savanna Poplin from her to go with a pair of brown Thursday boots I just received. Looking forward to them.
Looking at Bolthead's photos, I couldn't help thinking that if those shots appeared in one of those magazines like "Guitar Afficiannado" that cater to guys with money to burn there would be a line a mile long of people wanting an Alley Kat. The photos are really top-notch, and so are the hats.
Ha, I've been there for some time. My wife reminded me yesterday that I now have twenty-six pairs of shoes, boots, etc. Actually, I was just admiring your wingtips and realizing I haven't had a pair in years. Hmm. I was also considering how, these days, it's hard to find such nice shoes being...
I just ordered a pair of Thursday Boot Co.'s President boots from Amazon. I did a quick search on this forum but couldn't come up with anything. From what I've seen and read on some other sites (see BrokeandBespoke.Tumbler.com) they seem to be a remarkable deal: six-inch semi-dress lace-ups in...
Sunbody Hats has a couple of versions of that hat in straw, and I think I've seen them with the brim binding. You could ask them about it. It has a 4" ventilated crown. I"m a big fan of theirs because they're sturdy straws, particularly good for outside work, etc.
Someone described the process of ironing the brim of a hemp hat some time ago, but I'll be darned if I can find it. The brim of my black hemp curled up some time ago due to the spacer I'd inserted into the back of the sweatband. I'm wondering if I should try to fix it myself (and possibly...
Nice photo, RS. The outfit's great, but combining it with the green and white awning is inspired. Very late '40's. The photo looks like one my parents would have taken of my Uncle Harry on his tenth Manhattan for the day.
