So currently I'm obsessed with the FX series Taboo with Tom Hardy, and I was curious if anyone knows a U.S. hat maker that creates custom or just really good quality Victorian era top hats?
My favorite time of year is usually from Halloween to just after my birthday in late January. Being born in San Francisco I love cool temps. I did a year in Floriduh, and the heat and humidity was just ghastly. I ran back west as soon as I could.
The hat in my avatar is actually worn by Tom Hiddleston in "I Saw The Light," a movie about Hank Williams. I ordered the Justified hat from Roy and asked him to match the hat in the avatar. Roy should be shipping the hat this week and I'll report back when it arrives.
I emailed asking about a possible compromise (with the theory it doesn't hurt to ask) and we reached a solution. I'll pay a restocking fee of $100 for one of the hats, and pick up the other.

Yeah, but good luck finding something that fits off the rack or serendipitously at thrift stores or whilst perusing eBay when you have a head as big as mine. Ain't gonna happen.
Actually one of my favorite hatters, Roy at Jaxonbilt makes a fine example. I'm going to contact him and see what he suggests. I have a huge melon, plus the fact that I have a long oval head makes buying vintage impossible so I need to go custom.
