Very cool! Where'd you pick that up? I've idly looked at repops of those USAF helmet bags on and off, but I've not yet jumped on one because they seem to all either look a bit flimsy, or be mahoosively priced. Not seen one in (looks like) leather before. Looks sharp.
Interesting to stumble over this thread again. I've been idly looking at some dedicated gear for doing a bit of hiking again next Summer, with an eye to keeping it all to my own aesthetic as much as possible, having realised that for the most part I can achieve my aims of what I'm after with a...
I'm always halfway tempted by a pair of pythons.... they just scream 'decadent rock and roll' in the most Johnny Thunders way. JT remains a bit of a guitar hero, if very much not a lifestyle role model! ;)
That's not something I've had a problem with on mine, admittedly, but it may also be a relative sizing thing (I've always found most US brands seem to be about a size up from the UK equivalents - i.e. though I tend to wear my regular 42w anyhow, I could probably get away with a 40 in the...
Yes, I agree. Match the leather first, then (if there's a chance they will be on view) think about toning the colour of the straps in with the rest of the intended outfit. Over the years I've had a few pairs of braces that have identical band colours / patterns, but different leather end colours.
They're something I was never really aware of until I started moving in these circles. Obviously not something you typically see on your average footwear these days - an easy thing to exclude when building a boot to a price point. I'd be interested to try some at some stage, though, having...
The Goldtop one is among the best of that style available as a production jacket these days, imo. It's a bonus it has the built in armour and CE certification too, if you're looking at it as a riding jacket.
Great jacket. I know a lot of people associate this style with the 70s, but of course...
Nice! That's a serious shoulder pad there - did that come with it? (I always have half an eye on a new one of those for when I'm using a shoulderbag, as I've yet to find one that stays in place on me..... ). The camo is a great look - what era is that pattern from? I like how the greens all tone...
Nice look! Are they Horween? I have a vague recollection that Horween did a CXL At a time that was black with a green undertone (I think it was called something counterintuitive like Midnight Blue?). It's a look I like; reminds me of a lot of German-made leather jackets from the 30s through 50s...
There's just something about that broad brim-binding on a Stetson (among others) from that period that looks wonderful. I'm awaiting a new Fed DLX in Moonstone coming in next month, but thereafter I think my next hat might well be a custom order from Agnolita with just that sort of binding as...

I've noticed in recent years with *some* contemporary manufacturers (though moreso on the High Street) there is a tendency to go overlong on the sleeves. A few years ago I had a couple of 'regular' length jackets from Uniqlo, and the venerable Marks and Spencer as well - all blazer style (the...
Number 24, on Netflix. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt23782584/ The story of Gunnar Sonsteby, a leader of the Norse resistance. Beautifully delivered, this is no airbrushed adventure story, but a factual retelling of the war against the Nazis in occupied Oslo. It certainly dos not pull any punches...
The canvas one I have is great. When it first arrived I thought I might end up not having much use for it, but the size works really well. The leather one having a bigger singled compartment in the middle, though, will give another purpose as well. Externally, it's such a great size - stays out...
Yes. It's probably better in reality - I find tbh most Wested stuff I've seen for real is nicer than the product photos on the website - but it does just look off. could be black just doesn't work for that design!
It definitely looks like it has more character. I'd like a black edc that sort of size too, but in the one photo on the Wested site, the black version just looks... odd somehow.
It's always interesting how things got adapted in the field like that. Be fascinating to see how that information fed back into the design process for refinement and replacement.
It'd be interesting, as ever, to get a breakdown on who supplied what. I saw the other day ELC promoting their link to Masters of the Air, but I don't know what they made (I know there's a very distinctive B3 in that which has already been confirmed as an Aero). With a big show needing multiples...
So while we've discussed Indy's iconic gas mask bag many times over the years, it appears there's never been a dedicated thread, and certainly not one I can find where this specific issue is discussed. I dithered on starting a new thread, but then I remembered this old faithful which I felt...
