I found that exact coat this winter at "Men's Wearhouse".
They sell a wool "Top-Coat" that fits the exact specifications you mentioned.
On me, it comes right at the level of my groin and allows for easy movement with the split back at the waist.
This is the one I purchased...fits me perfectly...
Thank you, I've perused their stock and called them.
The only thing they have that I might be interested in is the Gambler hat.
I think Im just going to hold out for a custom hat-maker.
At this point, I'm going to have to travel a few states away from this northern metrofied manufactured area...
Thank you.
Yes indeed it is VERY frustrating.
I have been wearing my boonie with a dress suit and top coat because these hats do not fit and I look like a clown. I know it...I know it from the looks I get. I know they don't fit, people know they don't fit, but that's the only cover I have. I...
Hmm...this only leads me closer to taking a trip to another state to get a hat that is built for my head.
I can't see having to use the stretcher every night/day just to be able to wear this hat.
Too high maintenance.
Like a spoiled pretty girl, very nice to look at...too much trouble to keep...
Thank you gentlemen.
I will try your method.
Dampen the felt and the sweatband and stretch.
This time I'm leaving it in for a week.
I'd rather have it too big than too small.
Hey all,
Is there more to getting an effective usage out of a "Hat Stretcher"??
I let mine sit in the Black Bolero for a few days and it stretched the hat out nicely for the first day I wore it.
By the second day the hat mysteriously shrank back down!?!?
Did I do something wrong? I...
And...The Gray 1950s Bolero from Ebay.
Both hats painfully too small for my huge head. I got measured at a hat shop and ordered the black bolero, apparently the guy measuring my head measured wrong and I accepted his screwy measurements as my head size. Ordered the Gray Bolero on Ebay based...
I would like to know the proper method for selling on this forum in the classifieds.
I've decided to sell the Black Bolero and the Gray 1950s Bolero and get a custom hat made tailored to my head shape.
Sadly, There is no other choice...I can't take the pain in my forehead anymore.
:(
Just wanted to post an update...and thank you guys for the encouragement.
The Bolero fits juuuuust fine after stretching the head-hole.
Wore it today and got some smiles while getting breakfast...even turned the head of a fine young lady across the parking lot pumping gas. She head-tracked...
Question: Has anyone ever heard of the "La Macarena" company out of Mexico?
I just won a bid on a hat by them on Ebay for a good price.
Grey Bolero size 22"/Medium
I can't, for the life of me, find any info on the company....I figured I'd ask the wise folk here.
Listing - I WON...
You're right, to expect that same result is ridiculous...
Can't help but like it though. I took a look at "The Shadow" and his hat looks EXACTLY like mine!!!
The hat stretcher will get me to where I need to be.
Speaking of which...the universe has a sick sense of humor.
My hat stretcher wasn't...
...I found an amish hattery that has an online store!
I plan to buy one of there telescope crown hats after the new year.
Shoot...do they celebrate christmas?
I might order it tonight...lol.
Little bit of christmas doghous-ery....
Oh, here's the link...in case you would like to get in trouble...
Goodness...you guys are AWESOME!!
Thankyou for the enlightening and sobering info on the "Caleb Hat" Zombie_61!!!
I think I'll just stick with my 4" brim Bolero hat. 8" would definitely be the Beyonce Hat...lol.
Took a look at my Bolero hat again today and fitted it sitting on my head with the...
