Bit of a one-off hide on this one. It started out as a soft pale hide which Ken only had a small amount of. I've darkened it and done bit of HWT. This has given me a pretty pleasing result. Grain is now more pronounced, the shading is amazing, and it still has a lovely soft drape to it.:D;)
Sounds like Parcelforce (bless 'em) and HMRC are treating the parcel as an "import", and are charging duty and vat on the declared value. I would hope that the original supplier can intercede on your behalf and sort this out.
The crazy thing is that I have a few US denim "chore" jackets (which I guess are the US equivalent of a Donkey Jacket), and yet I wouldn't wear the UK version.
That's just fickle, isn't it?[huh]:D;)
Is this stuff gonna go on forever????
I've been a member on here for a few years now. During that time, I have never once considered using the "ignore" button on a member.
But this is now just getting beyond the pale. Talk about "stream of consciousness" ramblings.....
Please, Mods - the OP's...
Hi Butte
Mainly a UK thing, although LVC have done some retro versions (why??) - a 70's pvc shouldered workman's jacket of the very worst kind......:eeek:;)
I have a whole bunch of stuff that I need to sell, but I won't bother now until the back end of the summer. Folks (IMHO) are simply less likely to bid for outerwear if they can't wear it immediately.
Pricewise, I guess you need to decide what you need back for it. I would aim for around $750...
So "some WWII Navy aviator" asking for a 42 and getting a 44 - by mistake - is the same as PL deliberately (and happily) wearing oversize jackets?
If it works for you............:D;)
I used to buy 502s back in the 60's. They were exactly the same as shrink-to-fit 501s, but with zip flies. In the UK at least, they were far more popular than 501s. The hype surrounding 501s came later, via some slick advertising.
It almost looks like it could be some kind of hide - split steer or something. Or maybe some kind of Drill I guess. But a great look either way.
If you get any more info, please let us have it here;)
