    I keep getting tempted to change a few things on my Akubra Cattleman and then I end up backing out. It's like I'm scared I'll run into an Australian and he'll ask my why I defiled a national symbol of rural Aussies. No worries. What you did looks good.

    I never said mine was an Open Road, but all the specs are the same. Oppenheimer wore a pre-war 3 band ribbon OR, if I remember correctly. No worries.

    Here are a few pictures. I'm going to replace the hat band with either a horsehair band or a grosgrain band. I'm also going to put either a cattleman crease or a pinched front. Get rid of the ostrich feather, but keep the iconic Biltmore leaf pin.

    I have yet to see a side by side picture of a Campdraft with a cattleman's crease with a modern Open Road. Here's my two Silverbelly hats, my Campdraft and my 6x OR. My campdraft is about a year old and my OR is around 10 years old.

    Straw Open Road

    Neither of my straw Open Roads have a snap brim. I was able to shape both of mine with a western brim. I love my vented OR.
