    Akubra Campdraft

Yep I frequent this thread every now and then to see what new purchases have been made and to see if Neo has broken down and bought another. Of course the pics are great too.....much too great in fact (my wife might block this site soon); seems they entice a fellow to go ahead and buy another...

    Floods in Australia

I'm curious, do any of you know how the flooding in Australia has impacted Akubra and the retailers? I know Hats Direct is in NSW but I believe the flooding has reached that state as well. What a disaster! Hope our Australian FL folks are holding up OK!

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

Keeping it as is.....almost Received my new CD today. I actually like the bound edge and the only change I made was to remove the wind trolley. I really like the hat and it will be perfect for the sun out here!

    Akubra Campdraft

Received My CD Well I received my CD today....and I am pleased. This hat wasn't as large as I anticipated and it fit well right out of the box (ok a little loose at first but after a little steam during the creasing, it fits well). Additionally, I like the bound edge and the ribbon ends are not...

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

Thanks Neo! Was the squatter imperial felt?

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

Felt Density I'm just wondering.....but since I lean towards a raw edge, does the felt of an Imperial quality Akubra lend itself to trimming? How thick must a felt be to have a neglible effect on the brim if one chooses to trim the binding? OK! before I get the comments concerning the...

    Akubra Campdraft

Just Pulled the Trigger On an Akubra Campdraft. As I posted elsewhere on this site, I need a country hat for my fly fishing outings. The sun here can be brutal and I need a good hat that will stand up to the elements. I hope the quality of the Imperial Felt will not disappoint! I own two Fed...

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

Just Pulled the Trigger On a Taupe Fawn CD as described by Hats Direct. I'll see if I like it with the bound edge and thin ribbon. Who knows, maybe it will suit me just fine as is. I do find it odd that most people here describe the CD as a country hat but enjoy the fact that it has a bound...

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

Thanks Rick, James and jwalls. I own two Akubra Fed IV deluxe lids but really want a wider brim hat for the sun out here, especially while fly fishing. I like the look of the Fed but wonder if the CD might be too large a hat? If I do get one I am leaning toward purchasing a stock hat and...

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

Thanks! So what I gather from the the link is that the issue is not so much about durability as it is a matter of taste. Any other thoughts? The reason I ask is that I am in the market for a Campdraft but thought a raw edge and wider ribbon would be more suitable for me. Hats Direct can do this...

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

OK I am frustrated....searched for a long time to ascertain the answer to this question. I like a raw edge but is a bound brim more durable? Please weigh in with your thoughts or at least a link for me to educate myself! Many thanks indeed!

    Akubra Overload

New Akubra Owner Hello! First let me say that you all continue to be my virtual encyclopedia for all things from fedoras to coats. Thank you! Second, after much reading on this site, I am a proud owner of two Federation IV Deluxe fedoras. My first was the Dark Brown, which was so fantastic that...
