...sizes. I can't believe some of the high bids on ebay since I've recently made the move to visiting their site....(I just made my first e-bay purchase a couple weeks ago...or should I say, first "win"?)
I will probably not be winning any $300+ lids anytime soon. Maybe someday when I am not...
I found a Wormser Custom Quality at a yard sale on Sat. Maybe '60s as far as its age. The color is kind of a brownish gray in a 7 1/4.
Today I was really surprised to find a Royal DeLuxe Stetson Open Road in a store that I've gone to a thousand times & found nothing to write home about.
It is...
David, one crisp 25
hatsRme, thanks for checking the supply!
There has been a soaking rain lumbering through the area...we really needed it.
I needed a beaver felt today that can take the elements so I broke out the big gun from Texas: a Resistol 4X in gunmetal gray. I have pics of me wearing...
Now that I think of it, my hats are always questionable in size because 7 1/4 is a bit too small and 7 3/8 either fits well or is too big. My Stetsons of the latter all seem too big--and my Mallory by Stetson fits larger as well. Is that a coincidence?
AL, great images, really enjoyed them. The kids really clean up well. I'm sure they'll remember that car ride for a long, long time. Your hats are so crisp too. Thanks for sharing.
Alan, I like the foam idea a lot.
When I was a teenager, I learned a bit of hat terminology, tips on hat care, shaping, etc. from a woman who owned and ran a hat restoration shop. Every time I brought in a hat, she would show me a few handy things.
When I see pics online of hats w a dark ring...
Nice hats all.
RLK, nice Borso
TJones, the herringbone cap is nice.
CircuitRider, Nice suit and hat.
Seabass, you are cool even in those tropical surroundings.
G.Durand, I need a lid roughly that shade. A great hat color and super Stetson.
Mayserwegener, your nose for those habigs is truly...
Justin, Good luck to you and thanks for your future service... a salute to you, sir. On a side note: the military clothing I've come across seems to be well made and I'm sure you'll appreciate it.
Really pleased to have just found a dresser w mirror that we are converting to a bathroom vanity. We got it for less than you could buy the marble top alone I'm guessing. Wore my Walton: brim down and feather in.
HatsRme, that brim is hollywoodish....great look.
Alan, great quality hat
RLK, you always throw a great look together
Ana, those clouds look like a painting, so do your classic hats w those pic effects
Manfred, you look natural in all your hats
BJ, that is a cool one for sure...roomy in the ol'...
It is definitely interesting to read about some of the more fashion oriented topics on the Lounge. We hat people seem to be all over the continuum on feathers. Some feathers add a little pop of contrasting color that you can repeat in your outfit...like a tie or a pocket square. I think they are...
Thanks Manfred.
HatsRme, I'm glad you got to attend. Good showing w your straw.
G., that Lee is in nice shape, eh? Looks good. That new Borso was very nice as well.
+1 G
Hats of Ireland Castlebar Donegal Tweed flat cap from a yard sale today.
Also picked up a rollable Montecristi straw from Ecuador...said $50 on the little wooden box it was rolled up in. I got it along w the Donegal for $1 each.
Had to steam it up a bit.
HatsRme, driving weather... and style.
....I deserved that
I was laughing hard also as I read down the page to your comment regarding the small hand portrait.
Bowler, had to comment. I think you guys are colder and more snowy than us...but it's all attitude, man. Don't get a wind burn out there.
Justin, just love the colors of your tan and brown lid. Really versatile.
Alan, after all your hat collecting and immense knowledge of hat lore...I can tell...
Case, another really great find for you...and in your size. Looks good w the jacket.
Manfred, I appreciate your kind words. You have a knack for collecting great hats and you know I've been wanting a homburg.
AL, thank you. I am getting more and more used to the hat the more I wear it. It...
Thanks, Jared...I really like your homburg too. I generally am tempted to fedora-ize my finds. I totally changed my Stetson 7XCB lately and regret it for some reason, even though I believe it looks better on me.
I think I'll leave this one alone as it is so well preserved.
I guess that's the...
Thanks, I thought it looked like an antique on the inside compared to some of my other hats. I've included a quote from the lady's description.
"This vintage hat was found in my Brother in Laws Mum's house, in the attic! It was in a hat box marked Lincoln Bennett and Co Picadilly. Hat makers to...
