What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

I ripped a few self felts, thinking I didn't like them, then kind of came around to another view. I'm still no fan of the alpine rope, the hills are alive, treatment.

This is an essential tool for reshaping a hat brim

Have you handled one of those, Rick? I've removed welts from two hats. One was a velour, the other a finally pounced suede finish. The suede had two v shaped relief cuts. I can't see any way to fold as much felt back into a smaller circumference as those have without some sort of relief cut. The...

This is an essential tool for reshaping a hat brim

This is an essential tool for reshaping a hat brim

It can be uncurled though, if he really wants to. Top iron it first to reduce the curl, then flat flange it. The hat I mentioned above had an overwelt that I removed to get more brim. The makeshift sandbagging completely flattened it.

To make it flat? Just use a steam iron. To create a curl follow jlee's advice.

This is an essential tool for reshaping a hat brim

I was able to see it. I think you can do that one with a steam iron and a towel, ironing the top. It's pretty flat to begin with.

I cut an oval hole in a bamboo cutting board, put a hat stretcher in the hat as a band block, dropped the hat into the flat flange with a bucket as the flange stand, then ironed the underside of the...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

My wife and I watched The Irishman a couple of nights ago. It's too long, and rather pretentious in the scenes with Dinero's character's daughter, but the costuming and sets are impeccable. I enjoyed it just for the visuals, even if the story line was forced.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

For me it's almost the opposite. All week I wore carpenter jeans, work boots and T shirts, or flannel shirts and jackets made of cotton duck. My wife worked commercial construction, for firms building schools and hospitals. It was Sunday, at church, or big deal fundraisers, rubbing elbows with...
