My new life story and a word of warning

I'm through with everything, for now and hopefully for good. I had the first follow-up PET scan and it was clear. I'll have another in March. - Ian

    Coldest Weather I've been in

^ Yeah, I’ve lived in NYC since 2001 and this is the coldest weather I’ve been in here. It reminds me of an Iowa winter minus the snow. It doesn’t look like it’s going to relent soon. - Ian

    Coldest Weather I've been in

I spent 4 years in Ceder Rapids/Marion, in the late 1990s. Those 4 winters were the coldest I’ve been in. - Ian

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

It’s very cold here, right now, and will be for the foreseeable future. I mostly welcome it. Generally, during the winter in NYC, the Pea Coat with a scarf and gloves is more than sufficient. With a thick sweater, you’re almost always good to go. Back to those inner pockets, they’re swell when...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

The Pea Coat with a sweater is pretty warm. The have the BR "heavy" N-1, which is the proper weight and density of an original, from my experience and it's very warm. Between the heavy alpaca/wool lining to the storm cuffs, it's one that does the trick. The Pea Coat is good, however. Mine is in...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

I own a size 38 WWII, made in Brooklyn, Pea Coat. It's chest circumference is just about 41 inches...NO larger, going from memory. It's just slim fitting, but there is room for a sweater underneath. Oh, and I'm sure it's a size 38, because it still has the rare gauze size and place of...

    1950's Filson Rainier Supply Jacket

I love Filson ornthe idea of how it once was. It may still produce very nice garments, but my recent experiences with LL Bean and the current quality of their foreign made clothing has caused me to be wary. Now, when I buy LL Bean, I search for and wait it out on eBay for vintage, well...

Fedora Lounge Motorcyclists: Safe Gear with a Vintage Vibe

I don't know anything about steel toed boots when it comes to motorcycle riding, but when I worked as a paramedic, steel toed boots (Chippewa) saved my toes on numerous occasions. I can recall thinking "Whew, good thing I am wearing steel toes." - Ian

Fair Warning about Aero Alpaca Lining ... and any suggestions, please!

That’s the snake that was threatening to eat you due to the alpaca lining?!?!? Lol Glad to hear that the jacket is all worked out! - Ian

I remember seeing two of his leather jackets for sale in a store called Chess King, at the mall, in the 1980s. I think one was the Thriller jacket and the other was one he wore in a Pepsi commercial, it was black and white. - Ian

    Bronson N-1 on the way

After seeing several Bronson jackets (fit pics, etc.), including the N-1, since my post in this thread, back in August, I've not been overly impressed. However, I seem to be in the minority with that feeling. - Ian

    Zipper pullers on A-2 jackets

Though A-2's may not have left the factory with leather pull tabs, I've seen some originals with them which look like they've been there for many decades. I don't know a helluva lot, that's just a personal observation. - Ian

USN Deck Jackets period / repop

Wow, what a great promo short! A lot of insight, neat jackets (Marvin's N-1 has stenciling on the back which I've seen before) and Angie Dickinson! - Ian

Neither were vegetarians when first married. I'm not sure when the transition into vegetarianism took place. I do remember Paul saying what a great meat cook Linda was in the early days. Also, in the 1990's Paul was on The Oprah show when talk turned to vegetarianism. At one point during that...

There is footage of Paul walking into George Harrison's house with a leather jacket on. George quips, "Is that a vegetarian leather jacket?" LOL I think Paul showed him some sort of label inside of the jacket that certified it was all right. :) - Ian
