    What's a wind trolley?

Any of my shirts with a hole in that position has always had a button to go into that hole, so I don't know how a trolley button would fit. If I wasn't wearing a jacket or coat with lapel button hole, I would fasten the trolley loop/button to an upper button hole on the front of my shirt.

    What's a wind trolley?

Yes, it is, and I reply to your 3 year old post because I know you're still here. :) I have, by my best reckoning, maybe 3 vintage hats with wind trolleys. I've never used them, but I love the way they look on fedoras. When I know the weather will be inclement enough to be concerned about the...

"Has Johnny really nothing to satorially rebel against?", or "Is 'the look' dead?"

My take on that is that ShaNaNa was merely a kick-start, as it were. Would Happy Days, a tremendous hit, mainly due, in the second season, to The Fonz's morph into a more significant character, and the leather jacket, have come to pass if SNN hadn't been at Woodstock? I don't know, but I would...

flattering look VS comfort which one more important for you?

I don't wear my jackets as (skin)tight as some of you, so comfort is rarely an issue. I have to like the way my jackets look, though.

Where's all this intolerance coming from??

"Has Johnny really nothing to satorially rebel against?", or "Is 'the look' dead?"

We have a thread here by @LizzieMaine that identifies 'The Fifties,' as opposed to the 1950s, as beginning with ShaNaNa's appearance at Woodstock in 1969, before they had a recording contract, and thus, almost no one was aware of them. They were the second-to-last act, right before Jimi...

"Has Johnny really nothing to satorially rebel against?", or "Is 'the look' dead?"

Are you aware there are many places where pretty much the opposite of what you wrote is what is reality? People get away with amazingly immoral (and illegal) stuff nowadays, and depending who you are, and what you believe, will determine what happens after that.

"Has Johnny really nothing to satorially rebel against?", or "Is 'the look' dead?"

What I see most is mostly sports-oriented stuff, and all loose-fitting. Team jerseys, if basketball, over another loose fittimg t-shirt, and sports-oriented, baggy, shapeless shorts and high-end sneakers sans socks, or just low enough socks that you can't see them. And they were this stuff 12...

    Hasidic Jewish hats

    Well, it's tradition, after all.

    Hasidic Jewish hats

When you live for two main reasons - God and family, pretty much everything else is less than secondary. Plain black and white clothing is about as modest as it gets, and if you're not one to keep up with trends (people who are extreeeemely devout), then you stay with traditional - what's been...

    The Black Hat Brigade

I was never big on black hats. I have one 2"er that I don't wear much at all. However, yesterday I took delivery of a 1930s Adam 'The "Tux Adam,"' which has a perfect-for-me 2 3/8" bound brim, and perfect proportions all around, including a 4 1/2" front pinch. More details in the New Hats...

I'm not one for flashiness, but that lid gets everything right. Perhaps it being (in the) green (family) helps.

    Post New Hats Here!

Thanks, Al. I did notice, and was a bit surprised, at how well the hat, a black hat, shows off all its lines under both flash and non-flash amateur photographs. One unknown is this lighting situation. Before this I had never combined traditional and 'outdoor' incandescent lighting. It is...

    Post New Hats Here!

Thanks, Steve. I do wear my hats with just about any (every?)thing, although about the most out-there thing I wear, when it's cold, are hoodies, and usually with a collared shirt underneath, although not in the above pictures because I wasn't going anywhere. Usually it's a collared shirt and a...

    Post New Hats Here!

Actually, all I did to this one was tighten up the front a bit (shown in the photos), and then relaxed it again (after the photos) because my daughter, whose fashion sense I greatly respect, said she liked it better that way (she actually used other terminology). The diamond was already there...

    Post New Hats Here!

My latest, from @Bill Hughes (again), a '30s Adam: The "Tux Adam." All black, 2 3/8" brim (my ideal), and all other dimensions in perfect proportion: front pinch right around 4 1/2". Some pictures with flash (on right), some without (on left), all with a combination of standard incandescent...
