Wonderful looking 30's HB - the color is subtle but I get a hint of the blue in the highlighted areas. It would be interesting to compare side-to-side against a black jacket and your new HB in midnight blue.
I recall you had a bootlegger in Cordovan CXL Steerhide that you recently parted with...
Love the contrasting stitching - I had considered this type of option on my recently received LHB but decided against it. Maybe on the next jacket. Very sporty and distinctive for sure.
I wonder how the lighter stitching will age/wear over time and if it would darken along the zipper cuff and...
Congratulations on your new Aero jacket. I received my Aero LHB a bit less than two weeks ago and although it's way too warm to wear it (I did so for several days indoors just to give it some character) for now. I have the coat hanging on a free standing coat rack using a large wooden hanger...
It's the Biz in every way - style, fit and color - just perfect. The tailored look suits you and the jacket is sure to become more appealing the more it's worn.
I guess you're asking the weight of the LHB I received - if so then the total weight of the pkg was 4.5Kg. It's pretty substantial and I would say it weighs about 4Kg +/-. It ain't no lightweight!
If not, then nevermind.
Aero makes a 'Longshoreman' with a shearling lining that used to include a quilted portion along the bottom. See attached image. I'm sure you could option up a LHB with a shearling lining and quilted (or other choice) for the sleeves. Not sure how much thicker the jacket would be size wise...
Dream leather jackets and motorized transportation - what a combo.
As for my dream jacket, I received mine on Tuesday. An Aero Long Half-belt in Cordovan CXL Steerhide which I introduced on a seperate thread. I try not to dream too big and am more than content with such a modest jacket...
I really can't compare the quilted versus the tartan/alpaca as far as warmth goes but since there are layers associated with the quilting it certainly provides an extra measure of insulation/padding. Of course if the jacket fits tightly, then the lining would have less of an impact on warmth...
The 50's HB is larger (sz 48) vice the LHB which is sz 46. The size is one up from what I could wear but I don't like being constricted with a just right size. The HB is quite roomy but the LHB fits slightly better. Between the two, I really really like the LHB - a lot!
This is actually the third Aero jacket that I've had with the quilted lining. I had a LHB in black FQHH with a blue/green lining and I still have a 1950's black FQHH with a kind of 'brick' color which I obtained about 15 years ago. I've attached a few images of each - the one with the brick...
Thanks so much. If I recall correctly, you are one of the folks on here that has a LHB in Cordovan that I saw on here awhile back. Of course your jacket provided a more svelte look in comparison to mine. I really liked the look of your jacket which influenced my decision to get the LHB in...
Yes, I recall someone from Aero posting a pic of the newly available lining awhile back which is why I submitted my order for the LHB with this lining throughout the interior sans the courdoury band along the bottom edge. The neat thing about the color is that it changes based on how the light...
The quilted lining does provide an extra measure of warmth/comfort in reference to my regular 1950's half-belt. That jacket is actually a bit larger so when it's really nippy out I usually wear an extra layer. As my region is in mid-Spring, it's too warm for wearing of my new coat anytime soon...
My LHB from Aero finally arrived today after about 9 weeks from date of order.
It is everything I was expecting - the Cordovan hide is extremely nice which is complemented by the quilted rayon acetate lining that I prefer. The fit is just slightly large (size 46) on me but being of a certain...
Thanks so much for sharing your experience regarding my post. I was told by DHL that customs may access a fee and I can check online as to that charge then pay via their website. Having the info you provided will help me to determine who charged what and why. I guess I can contact US Customs...
Greetings:
I was notified today by Aero that my LHB in Cordovan CXL steerhide that I ordered back in early March is enroute and should arrive Monday. Hurray!!
I contacted DHL regarding the scheduled delivery and was told there may (or may not) be customs fees associated with the incoming...
Thanks for posting some beautiful scenery - I love old abandoned structures - they remind me of ghosts in a way. Very nice way of integrating yourself into the picture as an observer. Of course the jacket is the real star!
