Well I went ahead and tried the next size up in the Toys McCoy Code 33. It’s definitely a little roomier which I think I prefer for this style, while only being 1/4” longer in the body and sleeves.
I don’t think you’ll be able to find any at a US retailer. They’re made in very small batches and released once a year with a handful of preorders directly on the TMC website (you have to email them bc the forms and payment system are setup for the Japan market) and a couple of stores in Japan...
From here, with photos
Awesome info and comparisons, thanks for putting that together. This really deserves its own thread.
Our jackets are very similar based on the tape. This TMC is a 38.
Hem is 17.75” or 18.25” smashed flat
Sleeves are 24” measured straight or about 25.25” along the...
Thanks man! Yeah TMC tweaked a few things on their version which I believe were deliberate refinements. Where the original jacket’s shoulder width equaled the chest width, this jacket has 19.5” shoulders and a 21” chest. And as much as I like the idea of a 22” back, I think the inch TMC added...
Thanks Tom, I appreciate the feedback! Overall I’m happy with the fit.
Ugh me too haha the lingering what-if. I bought it second hand though and can’t afford to front a second one for the purpose of a side-by-side. So I’ll call it good and get some cardio. Who knows might **** around and remove...
Sure thing here’s the side fit
It honestly feels like the correct size for my body, but I can definitely feel the difference between these shoulder gussets and the full action back I’ve had with my last several jackets, in terms of freedom of motion. This is about 3-3.5” ease in the chest and...
Toys McCoy Durable Code 33
I’m really impressed with this jacket and feel like it’s the last word (and first?) on a perfecto. Part of me wonders if I should have gone a size up for a little more room but really liking the lengths. The eternal trade off with OTR. What do you guys think?
My...
Most likely neither of those sellers owns that jacket. They’re hoping to sell it to you for a couple hundred dollars more than it will cost them to buy it from the actual seller on Mercari or Rakuten or wherever. If you go search Buyee right now I bet you’ll find the original listing with those...
Here’s my take: not a scam. There are lots of resellers in Japan who list active items on Japan Mercari and Y! Auctions with a big mark up for sale to US buyers on eBay. You pay them, then they turn around and buy that item from the seller in Japan, it ships to them and then they ship it to you...
Whoa the blue is awesome, too. Had to double take because my mind registered it as denim at first. Good to know they get the job done in the cold. It’s milder out here in Oregon but I bet they’d be great for the 40-50 degree temps we get so much of. Saved searches activated
