All of my dress shoes (except loafers) and boots have shoe trees in them.
The question is whether shoe trees are “necessary” for (1) “dress” boots, (2) “dress” shoes, and/or (3) loafers. The answers to (1) and (2) are definitively yes. The answer to (3) is no.
Agreed. I’ve always found regular sized D pocket to be too large, albeit they are more functional. Instead, I found this Trophy jacket’s pockets to be aesthetically pleasing but likely unfunctional.
In my experience, softest leathers are deerskin and sheepskin. Pushing it would be lambskin.
If you want a sleek look, you’d want the jacket to be fitted, probably unlined or lined with a very thin material (like satin/silk).
A used JP jacket can be had for $500-750.
Deerskin seems to be the type of leather that doesn’t have that ‘leather jacket’ feeling. That is, the wearer is wearing the jacket, not the jacket is wearing (imposing its pattern onto) the wearer.
