    Akubra vs Jacaru hat

I'd be interested to know how a thinner felt lets light pass through.

    Akubra vs Jacaru hat

Thank you. Hopefully, the main point of that statement is apparent without being offensive - that I am not as much of a fan of the leathered-up look as I may once have been. That doesn't mean, however, that I have abandoned it completely. Black leather hats are either boxed-n-buried, or gone...

    Akubra vs Jacaru hat

And now that I've looked through the Jacaru website I feel confident in saying there is nothing there I would wear on my head.

    Akubra vs Jacaru hat

I was going to run with this theme before I read this post, so here goes. Leather and felt hats that are even shaped the same are completely different hats. Leather hats are both hotter, and physically heavier than felts. I don't live in a tropical, or even sub-tropical climate, and I can...

Thank you. She even modified the design to add an extra twisted cable on each side. I'm thrilled with the whole thing.

    HUFVUD HATMAKER | Lund, Sweden

My Hufvud inspired a recently completed handmade sweater, lovingly created from scratch by my wife. The photos don't do it justice, though. The color(s) are more vivid in person.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

I finally worked up the motivation to open up some hats so they actually fit on my head without squashing it. Borsalino:

Yes, all is well, thanks. And it's good to have back-up. :)

    Hat Storage

Just a side note: Storing hats upside down like that will eventually lead to misshapen crowns as the weight of the hat flattens the humps, especially on center-dented crowns. C-crowns and diamonds are not as susceptible. Regardless, I don't ever put any of my hats down on their crowns.

This could be some sort of record. Two years to get a couple of dimensions and one picture.

How we might get past the "hat phase"

This components of the topic in the OP pop up here more than occasionally. As for others wearing or not wearing hats - that does not concern me. As for what others think of me wearing hats - that also does not concern me (although I do appreciate the occasional compliments I receive). After...

How do you button your jackets?

When I (used to) ride, I always wore jackets with zippers, never buttons for that very reason of lack of sealability. I hate being cold. If I'm wearing a buttoned jacket in the cold while standing or walking, I button it all the way down and usually use a scarf or muffler at the top. If I...

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

My most usual response is, 'Who is that?'

What DH (Brent) wrote is true. Mikael is extraordinarily easy to work with, yada yada yada. :) Mikael does make hats with less reverse taper than my hat, for instance (see avatar). Go to his website and look at the Olav, for example. Although his trademark has become the reverse taper, he...

    Star Trek

We just watched S3, E1&2 of Star Trek: Discovery. No spoilers, but it picks up right where it left off. The writing and feel are right in line with the previous season, which is to say very good. New characters have been introduced, and the main plot line for the season has already become...
