Also that country has just celebrated a major holiday, Eid al-Adha, which lasts 3-4 days. I suspect everything will be back to “business as usual” soon.
Here’s an interesting possibility: vintage LL Bean bomber jacket. Dark seal brown goatskin leather and nice, thick sheepskin fur lining (VERY warm). Some have a quilted nylon lining, but the sheepskin-lined jackets give you much more warmth and are a much more substantial jacket. They have...
Great eBay find: a cool USAF surplus textile flight jacket (flame-resistant Aramid); I removed the military insignia and now it’s my “official” work jacket.
Very well made jacket, heavy duty, warm, and lots of Velcro tabs to attach whatever patches I want. And it’s genuine military surplus. Win-win!
Your jacket looks fine with the patches as they are; if you want basically the same jacket but with no patches, look for the jacket CockpitUSA made for Bills Khakis. It has the same washed goatskin leather but with snap-off fur collar and hidden hand warmer pockets behind the front patch pockets.
I would leave the original patch sewn on. Those patches are slightly “aged” and a new/different patch might stand out if it looked brand new and not suitably “aged” like the others.
If you remove the patches, the stitch holes may be quite small and neat and you might opt not to add Velcro at all. Many original 1960’s and 70’s G-1 jackets had patches removed with stitch holes still visible on the leather.
Or you could find replacement patches of the same size & shape that...
The sizing of the jacket looks good. I’m not sure about the “cracking” in the photo you posted. I’m no expert on leather.
It does look like a nice jacket; Tom Hardy would approve
Hey @pmx-berlin I think that G-1 looks like a good fit. Maybe the sleeves are a tad long but nothing excessive.
Looks like a quality jacket with a nice fit.
I ordered a replacement snap-on mouton collar from CockpitUSA for my Bill’s Khakis/CockpitUSA G-1 jacket and it arrived just in time for the wicked Nor’easter that clobbered us here in the NYC area. The collar is super plush and warm and perfect to keep out the late winter chill.
Extra special...
eBay has lots of photos of vintage, well used & broken-in jackets that have a full quilted lining (body & sleeves) from makers like LL Bean, Sears Leather Shop, Cooper, etc, and sleeve creasing looks similar to jackets with single-layer non-quilted linings.
The quilted lining even gives the...
