While foraging about for something else entirely I came across this & thought it might be of interest.
Would you use it? Could you use the scissors on other brims? What's the advantage to the curve? Why didn't I think of this?
Reactions? Great idea? Or Borsalino "jumps the shark"?
Found this in an old Asheville junk store a year or two ago. Thought I might offer it here prior to eBaying it.
I've been told this will block out to a 7-7 1/8 at most.
And if that one fits,
I'll throw in this similar era (dated) exotic, far eastern capline as well. This one...
Untouched. In original box w/ tags attached. These are Amazon photos but they are spot on. Inky black with green undertones.
Great boots, lovely oatmeal liner, just not my cup o' tea. Trade for similar repro WW II roughouts, 6" russet duty or ankle cuffed roughouts.
Or thin ribbon fur...
As discussed here.
5.25" as creased in a simple centre dent, the brim is dimensional, 2 7/8" front & back & 2 1/2" on the sides. Gives it a nice swoop!
I got another selfsame Olney about 18 months ago and this one came from the UK today. All packaging w/ tag attached.
I...
I dunno WHY I got this... hoping a hat might magically appear within it overnight, I suppose. :eusa_doh:
$60 shipped E of the Mississip', $65 W. of the Mississippi. Overall in GVC. NO KEY!
Note- shows it's age- Please note various scuffs, dings and other evidence of use present...
The older Stetson 3X felt is really my fave. Tough as nails & lasts lifetime(s).
From a seller I vouch for ATW. Honest & on the bubble.
She did right by me prior & I ain't NEAR 7 1/8 -so go at it! ;)
(no affiliation, just a righteous seller, in my experience.)
She calls it wool, though bearing 5 X's I would think it to be fur. Thing is seems now that RJTC has only woolies & 10Xs.............I dunno see what you think...
I got this D bar J hoping to shrink it down but that ain't happening.
This was going to be a hunting hat 'cuz of that unique cammo pattern. I only ever see that on cheap woolies.
It has a 2 5/8" raw brim & a beautiful fedora teardrop crease.
It is ab-so-fudging-lutly a western body, quite stiff...
I am rendered speechless in horror.
There does not exist a knitting needle so long that it'll reach the mind's eye.
Now I can't UNsee it.
The horror,
the horror.
:bump2: SIZE 10
As seen & purchased here.
Worn twice, maybe.
From the ad:
"Crafted to exacting standards of the finest Italian waxed leather, Handmade Maremmano Upland Rough boots bring a distinguished look and outstanding performance to the hunt.
Handmade Maremmano...
I think this item is from the era Bollman had license from Borsalino in N.A.
This presumption based on the "s,m,L,XL sizing scheme.
Although it IS marked as "made in Italy" and "Antica Casa", not " Original House" , which argues strongly for an Italian provenance, but when did Borsalino Italy...
...so first I get the above Biltmore from "Peter-boy" and, as you can see it is said to have a dimensional brim, 2 3/4" front & back, 2 3/8" sides, That would be a hella swoop, eh?
When it comes -not even close, it's a Biltmore "Chicago"- w/a 2 1/8" brim all 'round! Why they cannot...
$65 Open Road style Stetson, 4x, brown sweat, 7 3/8 plain white liner with "Stetson" in Script (i.e. NOT the diamond liner).
Looks contemporary or "late model". Price is right, tho'.
