Problematic Stains
I've used corn starch to remove water spots from light colored felts. A little goes a long way. Gently rub in some corn starch, give it some time and brush the stain away. Lots of brushing repeat as necessary -

Agreed, the fern is a nice color. Mine has a little brownish mottling - we'll see how that turns out after some weathering. -
