I saw an article today about a new restaurant in Tampa, Florida owned by Pro-Wrestling personality Hulk Hogan, that is being called racist for trying to enforce a dress code. While it seems a little odd considering Hogan himself is a poster boy for some of the prohibited items (do-rags/bandanas...
That' was a very funny story, but also recalls a somewhat traumatic experience I had in high school. One day every year our ninth grade science teacher would put on a demonstration where students were allowed to make molds of our hands by dipping them in paraffin wax. Well I decided to make...
I agree, it looks like you could probably trim the brim back maybe 1/4" to 3/8" and possibly get rid of the problem spot. If you could live with a slightly stingier brim, that would be the way to go.
In a strange way it was probably my discovering A Prairie Home Companion that got me listening to radio dramas. One of the best Summers of my life took place in the late '80s. I'd just gotten a divorce from a marriage that happened way too young, had a good-paying, easy corporate job doing...
Maybe it's because I grew up around my grandfather who always wore hats, or maybe I just enjoy standing out from the crowd a little bit, but I have for some reason never felt self-conscious about wearing a fedora. Usually I'll put one on and within minutes I've almost forgotten it's there.
Yeah, I had considered that since just about everything I'd want to do is in Lower Manhattan or Mid-town. Of course this was just one of many available. They have them all over the city, including the other boroughs as well. Thanks for all your advice.

I heard about affordable furnished apts on a NYC tour video on youtube, and then found this particular company through a web search. The website looks legit, with prices ranging from $1300 to upwards of $5000 per month. On the cheaper end they look very small and cramped, but in the $1500 to...
I'm planning a rail trip to NY sometime soon. Looking into some surprisingly affordable furnished apartment rentals in Manhattan starting at less than $1500 a month. Not bad considering most any decent hotel will cost upwards of $200 per night. Plus with a furnished apt, it should give one more...
Had a traditional Labor Day cookout with the family yesterday: grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, with potato and macaroni salads. Lunch today was more hot dogs. Tonight will probably be pasta.
I have a photo album my father brought back from the his time in Hawaii and the South Pacific during WWII that's filled with photos scantily clad young island ladies - some in grass skirts or sarongs, and many topless. He looks rather chummy with quite a few, so I can only imagine what went on...
On tap for tonight at Crunk Manor: Four giant bell peppers stuffed with a mixture of ground chuck, bread crumbs, egg, onion soup mix, and rice, covered in spiced tomato sauce and cooked in the crockpot for about 6 hours. I'm already hunger and it's not even started yet.
I'm gonna have to go with Good Morning Vietnam as my favorite Robin Williams film. But coming in at a close second for me is one of his less successful films, but one that I found very charming none-the-less - and that's Club Paradise. Williams plays a Chicago fireman who gets hurt on the job...
Tonight was simple White Castle cheeseburgers. Unfortunately it was the packaged frozen kind, as the nearest White Castle restaurant is more than 100 miles from me (in Nashville). Still pretty darn good and almost equal to fresh-made. I nuke the whole box (six burgers) in the microwave for about...
