    What else do you collect?

Books, books and more books. Fantasy and history, most frequently, but a wide variety. I likely have more than I could read in three lifetimes. On the upside, I think I've now acquired most of the books I 'need'.

    Cross zip nation

Hmm, that's interesting. That would suit me fine. Having had a close look at a lot of cross zips this week, it seems that relaxed fit jackets tend to have a wider wind flap at the bottom. I don't know for sure if that's coincidental or related to the cut, however.

Why Should I Buy A Vanson?

The mismatching pisses me off if the jacket is left unsymmetrical. I don't mind if front panels don't match the sleeves, or back panel and yoke are different. However, sleeves must match each other. Front left and right panels must match. Cuffs must match each other. Etc. If it's a hodgepodge of...

    Cross zip nation

I'm considering ordering a customised cross zip, and figured this was a good place for a question: I much prefer the look of a wind flat that tapers down so that it is very narrow at the bottom, as on the 618 on the left, compared to the strip remaining thick right to the bottom on the 118. Why...

    Indian Sportswear / Ranger

What are the pattern differences between the Ridley and Ranger? Aren't they a similar fit? Edit: Sorry, I see you all started talking about this in later posts!

Cross-zip Jacket back fit - wrong, right and indifferent

It really depends on the gussets in question. Those IR gussets, they appear to be the essentially non-functional cosmetic gussets I've worn on other Aero jackets- they connect right under the armpit and provide zero extra give on your P2P. The only advantage I've seen in them is that if the...

The Flat Head vs The Real McCoy's: which jacket to choose?

    Enjoy your new jackets! :D

What jeans are you wearing today ?

It was cold yesterday, so I broke out my Iron Heart 888 23oz UHR jeans. They're well worn in now, but they're too heavy/too stiff and the fit just isn't right on me. I'd buy jeans made from IH's signature 21oz fabric again, which I really liked when worn in, but I wouldn't go heavier. I regret...

Cross-zip Jacket back fit - wrong, right and indifferent

Black jacket= Ideal for me Brown jacket= Riding too high for me to be comfortable (or look right).

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

It would be considered semi-aniline with just a synthetic sealer applied even without colouring, as it radically changes the characteristics of the leather. This little diagram I stumbled across is nice, and shows how despite being in its own category, oil pull/waxed/oiled leather would fall...

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Ok, it seems more than a mere pigment ink has been applied in that case. Do you think the top coat contains any additional colouring? If it's a transparent layer I think 'top coat' is infinitely more appropriate than 'pigment'. By the way, I edited the post you replied to, to add some comments.

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

It looks very pretty, I must say. Is that sample yours? How does it react if you scratch it with a fingernail? Thanks. Edit: If a pigment 'ink' of sorts was applied to absorbent aniline leather it would be absorbed and stain the top layer, and would be there permanently. If it was applied to...

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

That's interesting- thanks for the reply. It would be fascinating to know what they coated it with. I own some pigment inks for artistic purposes- unlike traditional dye based inks they are entirely water resistant. Once they are absorbed by paper they are not going anywhere unless you use a...

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

This is how the definition is used correctly, with ink, for example. How it became co-opted to mean 'coated with plastic' when it comes to leather, I have no idea.

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Let's blame whoever wrote that page on his website then! He needs to fix that. It's a catastrophe of nonsense.

Aaarg! The horrors of painted/coated leather when it flakes off!

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Is that information from a tannery? The one on the left looks like oil pull leather, or at least waxed and oiled, as opposed to having a layer of lacquer/plastic applied. It isn't uniform enough.

Why Should I Buy A Vanson?

I meant specifically regarding fit and mobility, as opposed to generally. :)

    Aero Bike jacket.

It's a couple of years since I last rode a motorcycle, and I don't currently own one, but I have had jackets that it's uncomfortable even driving in! Has anyone tried getting Aero to plonk their 'premier' style higher armhole sleeves on a crosszip?
