Welcome To The No Spender Bender

Hello, everyone! I just found this thread and enjoyed reading through all the posts! The NSB idea reminded me of my "Financial Crisis" mode from school. What I learned from that time was that "no spending" wasn't sustainable. A better idea, at least for me, was using the old cookie jar...

    Customer experiences with Aero Leather

This makes eBay Aeros and vintage jackets look even more appealing!

My vintage leather jacket and I are reunited after 14 years apart!!

I'm with the guys who say NO to the dying. You'll destroy the vintage character!

Why all the hatred towards black leather jackets?

I'll agree that brown in a much more common choice here, but I don't know that there's an outright hatred for black. James Bond wears a black Aero:

    Aero Horsehide color pictures

The first one is a Highwayman, and the longer one is a Long Halfbelt, if I am not mistaken.

Missed Mangle (and a couple other random finds)

Hey everybody! I just got back from an estate sale. What a story! I was at an estate on the river here in Lansing. The home was owned by a prominent builder in the area, and by my best guess, built in the 60's. The workmanship on the home was impressive, and just about everything was...

    Another Highwayman jacket?

They've upped the price just a bit.

    Anyone heard of Oleg Cassini?

Oleg Cassini is pretty famous... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleg_Cassini

    Langlitz Cascade

How much does a Langlitz cost? High and Dry, I don't want to put you on the spot, but in general, what are we looking at for a new jacket (the prices are very specifically omitted from the website)? I'm just wondering how they compare to Aero, etc. I like the idea of supporting an American...

    Langlitz Cascade

I just checked out the Langlitz website. It's actually pretty tedious to use (which doesn't surprise me, since they're a smaller shop, and Aero's isn't all that great, either). I'm actually very impressed that you were able to get from the original Cascade to your jacket. I, certainly...

    New L.L. Bean "Signature" Line

I guess on the upside, LL Bean is known for pretty good service and reasonable quality. So if you found something you'd like, it'll probably be a good experience.

    Langlitz Cascade

That's a beautiful jacket and it looks pretty close to a Highwayman. Is there a reason you went with cowhide instead of FQHH?

    Show Us Your Purchases....GUYS !

New Satchel (It's not a purse, it's European!) I just posted this in another thread, but I'm excited about my recent purchase. I bought it in Guatemala for $20. It's nice, sturdy leather, and I'll be using it on an upcoming trip to Italy. I don't think I could pull it off in the States, at...

    overnight bag

So... So did you ever decide on a bag, Valhson? J Peterman used to have a Gladstone, but I couldn't find it just now. I've considered a Saddleback leather small suitcase, myself, to use as a carry-on and overnight bag for car trips, but I've yet to commit the $$$ to it. Just last...

    New L.L. Bean "Signature" Line

I have to agree with Zanzibarstar: They're trying really hard to be more youthful and fashion conscious, à la J. Crew, but they've missed the mark. I was so unimpressed, I didn't even bother to looks at the prices. Has anyone checked out Martin+Osa recently? I have yet to buy anything from...

    MEN'S PAJAMAS and DRESSING GOWNS

I find pajama tops too constricting. I wear the pants year-round (which are easy to find to purchase separately, sometimes sold as "lounge pants") and a t-shirt to bed. In the winter, I might wear a long sleeve t-shirt.

    J. Crew's take on a vintage style...

Seb, you are correct. But I think that's what makes this jacket so wearable. I've found a lot of true vintage items end up looking like you're wearing your grandparents' hand-me-downs (not that there's anything wrong with that). I know there are a lot of hard-core vintage people on here, but...

    "The Grizzly"

Jacket Measurements Those look like the key ones... I've always appreciated when, along with the measurement, there's a brief description of HOW they've measured. For instance: "From armpit to armpit" and "From top of sleeve to bottom of cuff," etc.

Made in China - Monarch A-2 repros

More thoughts... 1) When we talk durability (as I've seen in another recent post about getting FQHH on an A2), what do we really mean? Clearly, a well-made jacket can last several decades... Which is way longer than I'll be around! 2) Question: Do the sleeves on this jacket seem short? I...
