    Brooks Brothers Great Gatsby Collection

Now those are a site. Quite happy to see such a thing today. The x back tends to fit better for me and my high waisted trousers.

    Reproduction classic workwear

When this thread started I was scouring the countryside for a lot of what you can almost find at department stored here in LA. So many custom denim shops have popped up all over the place. Rising sun is actually a couple miles from where I live in Glendale. It's quite amazing how the style has...

Will rain water spoil a good felt hat?

I do hope people don't start wearing those plastic rain-covers for felt hats again.

what company will make a shirt non iron?

MADNESS! You can buy non iron from Brooks Brothers or any other number of companies. I could issue non wrinkle shirts myself, but that would make them plastic to my mindset. I've owned several shirts in the past that were all cotton wrinkle free from Nordstroms and Brooks Brothers... they look...

Harrison Ford in 42 The Gray Hat

Jackie Robinson's cap looks like it has a wool that is way too thick. Kinda like what New Era was making for their Cooperstown collection a few years back.

The Complete Guide to suits: 57 Rules of Style

I think in this case, many of the rules work very well for the writer and his colleagues, but they are not something that I would hand out as a standard for all men to fallow. There should be a set of rules that are bendable, and easy to go by for those that are just entering the fray of the...

An image request: flat 1940s/50s shoes (maybe Keds)?

Keds are quite the standard in the swing dance scene when it comes to flats.

The Complete Guide to suits: 57 Rules of Style

I agree with this. With the light fabrics of today it tends to make the suits look cheap to my eye. I o however like a machine stitch a quarter inch in from the edge. But pick stitching always ads an unsightly ripple to the edge from the get go.

    Matt Deckard Apparel

Thank you. They're doing very well too. It's like a button down version of a collar bar. It dresses up the shirt whereas other button-downs dress the shirt down.

Shirt collar oddities - Boardwalk Empire Shirt Collars

Quite the great find. Hadn't seen anything of them outside of Boardwalk Empire until this. Good to see that Fedora Lounge is the best historical clothing research center on the web! Thank you Dinerman!

Driving in a suit or sport coat: Jacket off or on (and buttoned or un-buttoned)?

One of my early experiences at a high end mens store in the 1990s was when I went back complaining about the lining coming unstitched when I'd sit in my car. Also I'd complain about how uncomfortable it was to just reach the steering wheel because of how the jacket would tug at my shoulders...
