Yes it is. I didn't really know what it was going to be like but I was pleasantly surprised. Texas hat stores put out some nice hats under their own names. I have had good luck with some so far.- Cornshucker77

Picked up this Tepee Western store; Amarillo, Texas hat on ebay. Golden Spread Beaver is the description on the sweat. Whatever that is it is a nice soft hand, and compares favorably to the 1960's Resistols I have. 5 inches at the front bash with a 3.5 inch brim.- Cornshucker77

Too much sanding, too many repetitions or too heavy of paper should both be avoided. For a finished hat a low grit paper would be best. Best to take off too little than too much.- Cornshucker77

I don't know if you got an answer to your question, but in the book "Cowboy Hat Making Fundamentals" the author Scott Goodwin suggests using 180, 220, 320 grit on a new hat build. He suggests too much sanding may bring out imperfections hidden in the felt.- Cornshucker77
