Alright I did a little research, the date must be 1951. Before 1956, the French army stamped their clothes with the ARMEE stamps, after that date a white label was sewn on the lining.
SFH means Service des fabrications de l'habillement ( clothing makers service)
1951 was the year it was given...
It means Army but I don't remember seeing leather coat.
The only leather jacket I see in the French Army is the pilots ones in "l'Armée de l'Air" (equivalent of Air Force)

I entirely agree with you, one of my last purchase was a work coat from pointer brand.
Here, no one look at me funny, but perhaps, it would be a different story in the US...
Those jackets don't look like you're typical bleu. Of course, these models can be wear casually, no one will look at you funny in these colors.
This is Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a French politician, he wears the Laboureur jacket but not in blue and it goes with his style since he's from a far-left party.
Most workers change before leaving the workplace. The only people I can see wearing them casually are really old people. But they are very few.
For example, you won't see a firefighter in full uniform strolling around.
Work clothes are just that clothes for work [emoji16] at least in France...
They're just cotton with a denim like texture, the company gave them freely to workers, so it's not high end quality. But it's sturdy and do the job.
The blue color is a standard color for this kind of clothes, you can also find grey and green colors.
This morning, before it became too hot I went for a stroll in my BK Californian, probably the last time I wear a leather jacket until September / October
I like those two models.
I'm glad I'm set for the mid-seasons jackets because at this rate with those beautiful jackets I'm going to be broken...
Now I just need a jacket for winter times.
