Okay y'all. I just got a mid or late 60's, maybe even early 70's, OR Twenty Five, that looks virtually brand new. It only has had a center dent put in it, otherwise the crown has never been creased. I've looked thru some of these pages, as well as the old catalog pages, trying to get ideas. I've...
I have found different kinds of hat bands on Ebay in the past. I think I did a online search for hatbands and got a bunch of hits. Just takes time to go thru them to see what is out there. If you like or think you'd like a horsehair hat band, "Knot-a-tail.com" has very nice ones. I have bought...
I call myself reading thru the thread on how to identify by crest and liner. But can't seem to find the answer. So I will impose on you folks to ask, do you know when Stetson started using the smaller oval crest on the sweat band that goes the width of the sweat, not the length of it? Hope that...
Thanks again, for the information. I like to shape hat brims, mostly dependent on the style hat. However, I think these seem to be better looking, or more appropriate, with flat or flatter brims. Perhaps the width makes it so. In any event, they are nice looking, and once again, I love that...
Just found this thread. I had posted these pics yesterday on other threads, but thought it might be good to put them here also. A 1953 (going by the store price tag) 3x no name Stetson.
Thank you sir for posting that. It is a beautiful hat, and looks brand new! The color on my monitor looks a light brown, and if that is correct, I love it. I will keep my eyes open for one of those, or perhaps even have one made to replicate it. Hope you don't mind, but I have saved one of the...
It has no designation other than the 3X. I just looked back at one of the catalogs and it may not be the one I said, as that hat had a 6 inch crown. This might be 6 but I really think it's actually closer to 5 1/2. I did find one that matched that measurement. But who knows, and it doesn't...
Brim is just shy of 3 including the binding, and the crown is app 51/2. May not be exact as I don't have a good ruler with me, just a little 6 inch one.
I had looked thru some of the catalogs that are posted on those threads, and it seems to me this hat may be the San Fran Jr. Don't hold me to...
Just a better shot of the hat, and I think more nearly reflects the actual color.
Better view of binding and 3 cord ribbon, and I agree with you, I really like this style ribbon.
This is the stamp inside the liner.
I think I posted this earlier, but if not, this shows the re-order tag &...
The brim is bound. One of the pictures does give the illusion of felted. Give me a couple minutes and Ill get a couple more pics. Any thing in particular you'd like to see on it?
Just got this Stetson 3X dated 1953, going by the store tag under the sweat. It is a nice hat and all but new. I did nothing to this hat except a good brushing. I think the color is silverbelly, although the one pic looks lighter, and the other looks darker. The liner does have the plastic cover.
Another recent acquisition, a 3X Stetson from 1953, and it's a nice one! I guess it's a good thing the hat looks good! I think the pics show up a lighter color than what I believe it is, Silverbelly. Definitely has the gray tones.
