It unfortunately cost me about $500 in Strike Gold hoodies to finally realize I'm a Japanese large despite being an American small in almost everything. At least my wife now wears my original comically small Strike Gold size S hoodie I first bought.
I've engaged with denim fans longer than leather and a pretty consistent thing I've seen is there are a few camps of where I see people land on heavy denim.
One is they want the absolute most insane contrast fading. Heavy denim will by it's nature tend to settle with more aggressive peaks...
Fit looks great Dude. I'm going to disagree on the color I think even without any patina it looks pretty good. Sure it lacks character right now but I don't find anything bad about it.
And from doing some poking while looking into the Bodie it is a re-release of when Freewheelers was...
Very interested in the Bodie fit. It may work well for you since typically you wear higher waisted pants. That back length is whats causing so much hesitation on it for myself.
My Iron Hearts, which I've washed at least a dozen times hot, fit exactly the same everywhere as the day I bought them. Ultimately if you're buying jeans too large and hoping to shrink to fit with sanforized it likely won't work out. I'd almost say losing an inch in the waist sounds more like...
Glad to see someone beating up their boots a bit. I always find it odd when people buy these super expensive boots which are designed to be rebuilt and made out of tough material then baby them. Shell corodovan (I know these are horse butt) was originally used in boots because it is so...
If the denim is sanforized it is designed not to shrink in the wash. Like Monitor said it may be a bit tighter for a few days but then will stretch back out.
Probably a super easy question but I'm looking for recommendations on jackets to keep my eye out for to be my next. Effectively I have the following criteria:
* Collared
* Non-zip hand pockets
* Single piece back or darted or action (basically just not 2 piece)
* Button cuffs
* Japanese made
*...
Pretty much that is the typical weather in the LA area. Before moving here I always wondered why sometimes you see people in shorts and a tshirt and others in long pants and a jacket. It really depends on if you'll be in the sun and which microclimate you'll be in dictates your dress.
Coming...
This jacket seems somewhat popular here and I can see why. Probably perfect for socal summer nights. Anxious to see your Bodie though. I love the look of the Bodie but the measurements seem a bit odd and I have yet to see non-model fit pics of it.
They're not buying it to wear it. They're buying it while denim is currenty not at it's peak of popularity and will probably try and sell it when we get another wave if denim obsession.
Yep I 150% understand where you're coming from on this one. Its where you take the view more on the garment's history than your own personal history with it.
I can kind of see where @Coriu is coming from on this one. I would personally not buy a jacket in a super distressed state. I like petina, scars, scuffs and creases but I want them to tell my story with the jacket not someone else's.
Normally they just have the hot girl as the thumbnail to show up then have actual pics of the jacket. Kind of a "now that I have your attention" ad campaign.
Yeah I go back and forth on the Freewheeler's A1 on a nearly daily basis. I really need to remind myself (1) the measurements don't look right for me and (2) an A1 does not fit my style at all.
Yeah I agree I tend to prefer making some slight modern improvements on reproduction style but I also understand the argument of where exactly does the line get drawn on what is considered a minor modern improvement versus what violates being repro. I just want a well constructed garment made...
Some places on buyee are starting to take pre-orders for this year's batch of Mulhollands has anyone seen a place taking pre-orders on Caboose? Are Freewheelers even making it this year?
