Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes a cloth jacket in a pattern similar to the Aero '50's Half-Belt?
I was thinking something like a slightly shorter version of the US M41 Field Jacket (with adjustment straps at the waist like the HB) would be an attractive garment.
Well, that's a good point, A.C. I guess I've grown to like the closer look of the jackets I've seen of other forum members, recently - HoosierDaddy, comes to mind.
Here are a few additional pictures showing the overall fit, which I should have included with my initial posting:

By the way, that's a great fit on 1911 Man's custom HB in the Custom Half-Belt thread.
I think it's too wide at the waist as well. I just never noticed until I recently zipped it up for the first time - I don't wear the jacket much and live in place with mild climate, so I always wore it open.
I've owned this jacket on the link below for almost 15 years and have always thought the fit was fairly good. However, after seeing some pictures posted recently of fellow FL members wearing similar jackets, I'm no longer sure the fit is proper...

Would it be feasible to send it back to Aero to have the Alpaca lining replaced with something thinner? And if so, what material would be recommended...
This is a brand new, unworn Buzz Rickson M-41 Field Jacket that is considered the most authentic reproduction of this famous WWII U.S. military garment. This jacket is labeled a size 44R, however, I think it 's more of a 42R.

This jacket is one of a pair of Half Belt's I purchased from Aero several years ago. It is in perfect condition, and has been worn, at most, two or three times (inside the house, only).
Size: 42 (I didn't order the jacket with any special sizing - will provide exact measurements, if needed)...
Hi Norsksea.
I've owned a half-belt for a number of years now, and never thought I would be able to get the leather to break in enough to be comfortable to wear on a daily basis. But I tried the technique described on the link you provided, and it really worked, taking only two sessions...
