I'm no expert but perhaps it is easier and cheaper to make hats closer to a target market than it is to export them there. Quality may or may not be an issue but like all companies, they hope the consumer doesn't notice. -

Lets talk about hat shrinkage
As someone new to this world I like vintage hats more and when buying I always ask the seller to measure the length and width. I've already bought 3 hats and each hat in same size according to the tag and all fit perfectly except one. -

From an appearance standpoint the older hats look like they have a taller crown and I think it looks better than today's 4 or 4.5'' crowns. That is why I asked how can I determine actual measurements. Is it universally common to measure the crown up to a certain height? -

Help with my Mallory The Ridgewood non-Snead model
