Sounds like you're overthinking all this... just let the jacket evolve bro
this tends to happen to lighter-colored veg tan hides anyway
I get that it's a new jacket and the first sign of imperfection is always the hardest... just let it be, trust me, after leaving it alone for a while you won't...
I got a new LW jacket recently too and yes, it's very rigid. (Not sure what weight HH you got) Please wear it in the rain and wear it often. Even at home if you can, as dumb as that might feel. It already relaxed a lot in just 1 week. Huge difference.
ah this is his sage sateen cotton - I like the look of it too. I recently found out the waterproofing is quarpel which is a durable finish... should last you a good while. They don't mess around with the textile offerings either lol
Hope you're enjoying the peacoat!
I would not call this "very boxy". It may feel that way relative to the close-fitting look you usually go for.
My preference would be a little more length for the waistband to hit the belt-line; it's not visible due to your tshirt, but I think the jacket may land above or in the middle of it...
Oh I see. I thought your initial comment was about the high pocket making it look like a cheap perfecto clone. There are so many variations on this design, at some point I guess they just wanted to find something different that set them apart.
FWIW, I asked the man himself. He responds 15 mins later.... he just loves to talk jackets. I don't know any other vendor in this space with this kind of responsiveness.
It's simple... when you got enough coin for an LW, you need a deeper coin pocket to go with it :D
That's an interesting theory RE: Branded garments though
This thread was highly informational for me, so thought I'd contribute in here with my experience in '24 now that I ordered and received a new jacket from them. This is not a long-term review of their product, but what the interactions and transactions with the owner have been like.
I...
Gotcha
@fabiofades, bottomline is it won't be as durable as their horsehide (HH). That's not to say it's useless, you probably could use it for your motorbike. I'm sure they go to great lengths during the tanning process to make it tougher. But it's still not gonna outperform HH. I haven't...
I may misunderstand your question due to translation, but it's not worth as much - in fact the same jacket costs more in deerskin than horsehide. This is due to higher difficulty of sourcing clean deerskin. (clean meaning without too many blemishes or scars)
I don't own a deerskin jacket from...
Just an update on the Appalachian. Been a little over a week since getting it.
The leather already started to soften up nicely. We had heavy rainfall in NY on Memorial Day, so took it out which jumpstarted the break in.
Really starting to dig it more. It's true, it only gets better as you wear...
lol I don’t think he intends to be that deep. Guy’s just a troll. If u go thru his posts:
#1 - wearing leather jackets are begging other people to fight you
#2 - finally gets a jacket that turns out to be a fashion lambskin jacket
#3 - decides to crap on a Schott and throws shade at his dad...
