    The Cap Faction

That's fabulous, thank you! I've dealt with B!Wear in the past and enjoyed the experience. Now the question is just where I can find olive-drab HBT.

    The Cap Faction

With all the custom cap makers out there now, I'm curious if anyone has ever had this one cloned. Seems like it would be pretty straightforward, if you could source the olive drab herringbone twill material.

Help Date this Jerkin Vest (Please)

My guess would be '70s. My grandfather had a number of leather jackets from that era with kind of a '20s-'30s look. I think there was a bit of a leather renaissance at that point--maybe a reaction to synthetics?

    The Ultimate Aloha shirt?

Sun Surf makes Ernest Borgnine's shirt from that film, so I'm fairly certain you can get Montgomery Clift's also.

Help Date this Jerkin Vest (Please)

Finally, there is a place in Boston called "Rick Walker's" that claims to date from 1932, which would be 70 years before the 2002 closing reported above--so perhaps there is a connection.

Help Date this Jerkin Vest (Please)

The Boston Globe says they closed in 2002 after 70 years in business.

    Vintage Cars

A friend helped me shoot some video of my vintage car last week. I just uploaded it to YouTube and thought I'd put it up here.

Collectible Fashions of the Turbulent 1930s- Men's Chapter

I sure would like to see a photo of that.

    Golden-Era Hot-Rodding

A bit of fun from the Hollywood High student lot, back in 1937. These wouldn't have been such hot cars by this point, but I'll bet they were still a blast.

    Old gas stations

But I'm pretty sure it did inspire Doc Hudson's office in the movie Cars, so it was worthwhile in at least one respect.

Everyday Fellows of the Golden Era?

Some more of my grandfather, Bill Conwill. The upper right photo was taken at the Kansas City train station in January, 1938. The others are all dated 1940. In the images where he's playing tennis, I believe he's wearing a jacket similar to the one attached. I wish I could read his t-shirt!

    Babes on Bikes

At that particular point in history, virtually everyone under a certain age was a bike fanatic! How else were you to go on unchaperoned dates?

    Royal Enfield and Lewis Leathers

I actually just got back from the local dealer and the new bikes have little relationship to the older ones aside from looks--they're supposed to be vastly more rideable and reliable with top speeds around 90 mph instead of 60. As for stopping, the UCE motorcycles have disc brakes--I think some...

    Royal Enfield and Lewis Leathers

And now they're getting ready to introduce one! Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I'm hoping to acquire a pre-'06 Bullet 500 in the near future and I'm out looking for inspiration. Planning ultimately to bob mine into something resembling a Model G or WD/CO but with Ariel/Triumph-style ribbed...

    My grandfather's knife.

That would make a lot of sense. My dad was a scout in the '50s and I still have his hatchet, which I also got from my grandfather's tools that were kept at my grandma's. I'll try the oil trick soon. Thanks!

    My grandfather's knife.

Right, this is definitely not a USMC fighting/utility knife (1219C2), which was also known as the U.S. Navy Mark 2 utility knife.
