I got this summer sport-suit.
Ca. 1928-1932. The fabric is thick, smooth and slightly shiny. It doesn't appear to be linen, but rather flax. (Edit: I think it is nettle fabric.)
Size is a 38-40 short.
Would they advertise their gimmick to the world on the largest trade fair?
This might be the case if it was a rejected idea and they thought it was only good enough for actual lipstick (which BTW seems to be inserted sideways into the heel). :p
Idiocy. In West Germany they modernized the cities more extensively and at a much faster pace - thus destroying lots of old buildings that could have been restored. In East Germany they retained (until today) relatively more of the old building substance (though it now is again in decay in more...
Well a fedora, tie and specatators are more than enough for the "gangster" association.
You should be positively surprised that he got the period almost right.
Wow, look at this shady Hajduk! One can see in his eyes that he is up to no good.
But what great stories these clothes tell us about the time:
One can see the German-Romanian connections of the 30's. That leather-coat is a typical German motorcyclist coat.
The traditional fur cap indicates how...
Does it have labels of any kind?
I think the shape is very much late-30's to mid-40's.
Wartime catalogs have a lot of these bold-checked woolens (which were more easily available than worsted).
For (typical) late 40's the waist is nipped too much.
Such a long shirt would be better tucked into the trousers. I would make a straight shirt hem (like on mine).
If you want to wear it like a sweater or jacket over a shirt, I would do a tube knit hem but make the body shorter.

Collecting and dealing with vintage clothing and telling an anecdote involving a public ladies´ room is something I can´t imagine a Grace Kelly doing.
See, that´s something quirky and unusual that speaks for you.
@Horace
Now who is she?
Oh - great find, Floey - though it was in bad condition!
Cool to find stuff like this at all on fleamarkets.
Yes, copying it and re-using the Zipper, button and tag would be the best way if it is really trashed.
On the photo it still looks wearable, though.
Crazy isn´t it? Most vintage-wearers dream about having such cars, yet those who have them (and can effortlessly afford clothing) have mostly not the slightest interest.
Looking good Floey! The car is a nice accesscoire for your style.
Is this the first time you wear plus-fours/knickerbockers?
They look great with the cap and sweater. Are they original or reproduction?
I don't think Josephine Baker and Lee Miller can be compared with Gene Kelly... apples and oranges. :D
(Just kidding... I know you meant to write "Grace Kelly".)
