I agree. I think it's "disrespectful of others" to give someone such an unfriendly welcome. We already have the unofficial, self-appointed "Aero Police" who jump on anyone who dares to criticize Aero in any way, no matter how slight. Do we really need to dump on new members to the forum for...
Mr. and Mrs. Hope were fixtures here in the Palm Springs area for many, many years. They gave a lot of time to local charities and causes, and will both be greatly missed. My grandfather spent a good deal of time with both, and always had complimentary things to say about them, which is saying...
Mike - I didn't see any "loose ended" stampede strings on that link. Most have a slider of some sort (sometimes it is too small to see well in a thumbnail photo) that you can use to cinch up the slack, sort of like a bolo tie. Once in a while you will see some that have "free ends" at the top...
I guess if it's time to play nice, I'll quit being snarky and add a recommendation for Big Bend Saddlery in Alpine Texas. They have an online catalog, and I've been doing business with them for about 20 years or so. Sam, I wish I had known somebody was interested in hatbands, I just traded...
Thanks for defending me from all this scathing sarcasm Alex. I spent the last few minutes crying my eyes out. If only my shirt had some handy grommets to let all the tears drain through. Hopefully, unlike Sam, my "live?" is not over. Some people get defensive easily, hopefully I didn't hurt...
Yeah, I know what the grommets are for. I'm a rider, from a long family of horsemen, and fairly capable of reading the info on the DM website, so that's not exactly a news flash. Just don't like the look of them on such a great looking hat. Still not sure why DM insists on also having the...
I like the dimensions of the Bushman, color is not my favorite, but it's not bad. My only problem with it, and other D.M. offerings is the grommets. I just can't stand grommets on a felt hat. Just a personal preference, and one that has kept me from buying more hats from David Morgan. For...
I think that instruction sheet was primarily for overzealous western hat owners who have seen too many depictions of cowboys watering their horses from their hat. A greenhorn might be tempted to use it as a frontier chamberpot, or to soak tired feet after a long day in the saddle. On a...
BigDog - also keep in mind that when many professionals "upsize" a hat, they may actually have to take in some of the brim width to accomodate the newly needed crown acreage. I've had several stretched up 1 or two sizes, but the more stretching needed, the less brim I ended up with. Frank
Bob, I'm just a hair off being an 8 myself, and I own hats from both Art Fawcett and Tony B. of Tumwater Hats. I don't think either would have a problem accommodating your melon. The pickins get pretty slim for factory made or vintage eBay finds at 7 7/8 and up. Good luck, Frank
Bump for approaching fall weather. Make me an offer on this great Pendleton; if it's decent, I'll throw in the military-style coat for a few $$ more. Thanks, Frank
