that is very good advice Dean. determine your real maximum on an item and bid it. If someone beats you, then you know you gave it your best shot, and it won't hurt so much.
When people complain about being beaten by one or two bucks what it says to me is that they didn't bid their true...
I'm listing a few items from my own WWII aviation collection on ebay at the moment.....I know there's a few people here might be interested (hi Paddy!).

I've never mentioned any of my (regular) ebay auctions here before as i thought it...
Still more CONGRATULATIONS!
It really does make a massive difference if they sleep through most of the night. Our first and third were wonderful sleepers but the second…ouch!
Gory stuff is always different in the real world. I’m the guy who shuts his eyes at THAT scene in Alien but I...
OK, agreed, its tangenital. So I'll confine myself to this one post on the subject!
There are certainly some strong conservatives here. But there’s a lot of liberals and leftists too. I wouldn’t like to guess the true proportions. Hemingway has a sticky poll at the moment (one person one...
I've collected and dealt in WW2 aviation memorablilia since the early 1980s. They say this every time a new WW2 film comes out. The only time I ever noticed any difference was after Top Gun (not even a WW2 film) when the price of classic flight jackets went ballistic for a while.
It's a very famous picture. I believe it is known who he was, I'm sure I've read about somewhere. I'm sure if you google around a bit you'll find the full story somewhere.
I have a couple of pairs of 1930s glasses plus a couple pairs of 1940s sunglasses that I have had modern lenses fitted. This at different times and different opticians, and I have never had any trouble. Go for it!
ouch! stop it now!
It is very easy to overtreat leather, particularly sheepskin, and particularly with liquid dressings. I've seen Irvins that have almost literally gone like soggy paper from over saturation with liquid dressings....including the tearing bit!
Every 6 months over 3 years...
well you beat me to it froggie....
Probably 12 o'clock High or Casablanca.
No wait: POWELL AND PRESSBURGER "A CANTERBURY TALE"
or maybe........oh dear i give up
This prompted me to do a google on SCW cavalry. Hundreds of references, but after the first few pages I gave up as there seemed to be little of any substance. Good old Cucaracha did yield this picture however……which conveniently acommpanies a chronology of events for Sept 1936...
beautiful! I love the pic pf the young lady with the owl and the Webley (or is it an Enfield?)
Who is the aviatrix? She looks very familiar.
Luxor goggles?
Well, I listen to (and play) what some people consider a wide range of music, but there’s a lot of consistency…..like it’s mostly from before 1960!
Walking to town today I listened to Vol 1 of ‘Swinging Hollwood Hilbilly Cowboys’ (1940s West Coast Country music) on Proper, and...
The European resistance covered the political gamut - there were even some indigenous fascists who fought against German occupation - but it still had a strong left-wing orientation. The first French resistance groups for example were formed by Spanish Republicans. More to the point, many allied...
That's very interesting Miss Joeri. I think allied commanders were over fixated on conventional warfare, but then it was what they knew best. They were also suspicious of the leftist bias of the European resistance movements. Because of this they probably made many such errors.
Time and again...
the problem I have is that many people (this was made clear by newspaper reviews, phone ins etc) took the show as "proof" that things were simply unbelievably awful back in the 1940s. That seems to me as unrealistic a view of the past as the rose tinted golden-agery that oten afflicts this site.
