So it would seem from the Hats Direct website, where they hint at things to come: "The Federation Hat Project is undergoing some exciting updates in 2024, to stay notified sign up below or follow us on our Instagram page."

Hi, Buckeye --
Can you dig up and email me some photos of the hat you have in mind? Then I'll know exactly what you want. Diamond bash is pretty easy, but I'd want to be sure of the look you're after. Feel free to PM me here or email me directly at st.white@comcast.net
Thanks for your...
SOLD: AKUBRA ROUGH RIDER western hat - open crown - size 58 (7-1/4) - Rarely Worn! $80 (including US shipping)
The Rough Rider in Akubra's new bran color (a classy medium tan -- not too light, not too dark) comes with a reeded roan leather sweatband, satin liner and cut-edge brim. Made in...
Maryland morning dog walk, cool (around 48), sunny, no wind, so this hat joined me and the Corgi. Started life as a light sand Akubra Rough Rider, reshaped brim and crown to my liking, added a home-made hatband. I was pleasantly surprised when this hat won compliments and questions from hat-shop...
Thanks, FedOregon! The Akubra Rough Rider comes with a huge, pre-shaped brim. Ironed it flat, measured it to about 3.2", cut it down, then spent quite a while with the steam kettle getting the brim curl and dip just right. I'd already found the correct basket-weave band at the local western-wear...
Pleasant morning, 55 degrees, light breeze -- good morning for walking the Corgi in a denim jacket and my Raylan Givens/"Justified" hat (which I made from Akubra's beautiful Light Sand Rough Rider).
For anybody who might have (or have seen) hats in this color (and it may only be a western hat color), is Stetson's Mist Grey truly grey? Or is more a greyish-tan or tannish-grey? It's so hard to tell in online photos, which can vary with lighting and monitor reproduction. As many of us know...
Does anybody know anything about a western hat brand called Lion Hats? I'm trying to help a seller who doesn't know much about hats dig up info on a hat he's got for sale. The sweatband, oddly, appears blank, with no maker or store info, no X-grade info, no hint as to whether the hat is wool...
Apologies if this has already been posted. NPR's business show Marketplace did an interesting story last week on the current Stetson Co., including an extensive chat with the woman who is now Stetson CEO. The story is about 7 1/2 minutes long. This link should take you there; click on the...
I recently started re-watching JUSTIFIED from the beginning again. Still a great show, with writing and acting among the best of TV in recent years. This prompted me to finally get a hat to properly convert into a replica of Raylan's silverbelly western. I started with a nice Akubra Rough Rider...
Nice job! The Adventurer brim is a little wider all around than the actual Indy hats, but that in no way detracts from how good it looks -- and it does offer a little more sun protection as a bonus. Have fun wearing it :)
I was only comparing my own DM Adventurer to the Fed IV. And while the Fed IV wasn't much darker, it was noticeable. I don't know how the Fed brown compares to Penman or AB hat colors. Mostly, I just thought the Fed IV shape looked closer to the Raiders/Crystal Skull crown shape, and the Fed IV...
Hi, again, Kermit. Many valid points made and opinions debated in the thread following your post. A few things to keep in mind:
1- The Fed IV really was developed by Hats Direct and Akubra with design input from knowledgeable members of Indy Gear and the Club Obi Wan forum (including hatter...
Hi, Kermit. Yes, lots of great info here and at Indygear and their Club Obi Wan forum. Have you seen the entertaining 12-min video "The Fedora Chronicles"? It covers the history of and differences between the hats in each Indy movie. Link:
I agree you can't go wrong with the Akubra Fed IV. I...
