    Hey, Stearman, like this?

    Out Your Back Door

Today should look more familiar. It's snowing, something that supposedly only occurs every 4-5 years in Portland. This year it's happened twice and the place is paralyzed! Fortunately I don't have to go anywhere until it all melts.

    Out Your Back Door

Here's a few shots of 1) my front yard, and 2)3) the back yard looking down to the creek. I love the Pacific Northwest.

Exactly! And running into everything. Sadly, that would entail damaging a truly precious auto.

    The sundowners

That's a famous pair. It's been shown in at least one book and shows up in Google image searches quite regularly. The guy who built the teardrop to match his woodie is a genius, IMO, and has a fine, puckish sense of humor. I'd hate to think how much you'd have to hand him to get him to part...

Yup, my son covets my copy. I'm sure he's holding out for it in the will.

    The sundowners

Love the American Camp Chair! Once this house and yard are finished to my specs I'll be investing in a teardrop trailer as a mobile camp. Since they were invented clear back in the '40's I maintain that they are perfectly appropriate shelter for the Fedora Lounge and having a pop-open kitchen...

    The sundowners

Okay, Living Under Canvas was universally panned. However there is a three volume set by Hennessy on Nomadic Furniture. I remember the first volume that was printed in the '70's and it was a kick. Now there are three volumes so I may get the lot. Not all of it is 'campaign furniture' because...

    The sundowners

To save time and bandwidth, here's the link to the Brawer. Just do a Google Image search on british campaign furniture book I also see a book called Living Under Canvas that might be worth a peek.

    The sundowners

The book by Schwarz is the newer one. I also have a copy of British Campaign Furniture by Nicolaus Brawer. This is a large, coffee table sort of book that was never reprinted and brings some serious money on the used book market. Fortunately, I got it new. I'll see about pictures. It's...

    The sundowners

I've got two books on the building of campaign furniture. The history of it is fascinating and the construction is ingenious.

Oh Hell yes, it would. If they'd done that I'd be tempted to buy one. I'm still contemplating getting a Kodiak in 9.3 x 74. It would make a great medium to take back to Africa. I'd use it mainly for pot hunting but the caliber is big enough that you do it all if you shot with care.

That isn't the first howdah repro or modern version to come along. It is, however, the most shotgun looking one.

I'd need to find a homeless or battered women's shelter. And such to exist in Portland . . .

Yeah, and you don't have to wonder what you're going to do with a whole elk. I shot a bison one year and it took my late wife and I over a year to eat it even though we gave gobs of it away. A quail or two I can eat by myself.

Oh, well done Renault. I'm not sure I'll get out for a hunt this year but next? Canada geese and pheasant beware! I have a new dog, a standard poodle puppy who shows remarkable promise. We shall see . . .
