Flooding and shoveling ice doesn't sound much fun, but I'd trade some cold weather with some of you folks right now. Seems like our winter is already over here. It's in the upper 70s to low 80s every day right now. I got about 2 weeks of wearing my Teamster and Pendletons, now it's back to...
Fed - others will disagree, but the main difference between the two grades is a better, more comfortable sweatband. It's wider, and made of better grade leather. I didn't find the felt that much better, although the heritage seemed heavier, which was not a good thing in my climate. I've always...
Looks like my Teamster, which was made too big in the shoulders, so that's where it creases with any arm movement. Once that area creases like that permanently, it's pretty hard to get it to sit right. If I am correct (always a crapshoot!), having it altered will cause sleeve length loss. Frank
Mikespens - look up "solfugid" online and see if that's your mystery insect. No stinger, but looks like a huge scorpion. Had a house in the SoCal desert that was overrun with them. Nasty buggers. Great shots g.durand, we saw all those same sights every year growing up, traveling from Houston to...
Rippsnorter - your observation (from your previous to last post) about badgering followed by spamming is, unfortunately, right on the money. Pretty much the same folks every time. Someone new to this forum probably finds that pattern pretty discouraging.
I posted my long unpleasant experience on the Aero/Horween joint statement thread, so I won't re-post it, but I will say that I'd only do another Aero if I went through Insurrection. Internet, yards of emails, phone call with Ken, still ended up with a jacket I'm not completely happy with...
I've been breaking in cowboy boots my whole life, so I didn't notice the Iron Rangers being any more stiff than any other packer boot or ankle boot in general. The Chippewas are very solid, it's not thin leather. It is the "crazy horse" type of leather that has a high oil content, with more of...
If anyone is looking for a comfortable alternative to Iron Rangers, I just got a pair of LLBean (Chippewa) Katahdin Iron Works engineer boots that are excellent. I found I needed more arch support than the IR's provided, and these have it. Cap toe, comes in wide widths, and Chippewa boots are...
Thanks for the interest boys, but I finally got a bid on eBay, so they'll have to be purchased there. I don't expect these will go super high, but it's already $20 more than I was asking here. Thanks, Frank.
I believe it's a medium, or "D" width. That's about all you get from Red Wing in a size 14. They're not that narrow, though. I'm used to wearing a wider boot, and these are not tight where it would bother me. Frank.
Scott - from end to end, the sole is exactly 14" long. The soles stick out about 1/4 of an inch in front from the actual foot of the shoe, and nearly the same in back, if that helps at all.
Scott - all the online info says they run large, to size down. I did not find that to be true. I wear a 13.5 - 14, and these were fine. I like to have a little room in the toe box. If they were a size bigger, I would have used an insole like I do on most of my boots for comfort, but at this...
Feels a little weird to offer used shoes on the classifieds, but I've got these up on eBay, and I thought I'd give another bigfoot Lounger a chance to try these out. I've had them a few months, but only really wore them to work (indoors), or out to a restaurant. They are nicely broken in, but...
