Our street is marked for a "slurry" project of tar sludge today. I just hope it's dry by the time we get home, otherwise we'll have to park about 1/2 mile away and walk home from there.

Well, LOL, it fits better since the sweat cracked all to hell. It's a real tight 7-3/8 or 7-1/4. I got a partial refund from the seller... down to less than the opening bid of 29.99...
I might just follow @moehawk 's idea and use it as a test dummy to check my sewing skills to add a new sweat.
The hat arrived. I wouldn't say dead cat as the odor is not bad... but the quality of the felt reminds one of matted cat hair, or Akubra-like cardboard as my Coober Pedy had.

Here are the 3 hats drying. The grey Champ at 12:00; next, going clockwise is the grey Borsalino long hair finish with undertones of emerald green; and finally, the Royal Stetson, which is grey with blue notes to it.... kind of a blue smoke? color. They're looking real clean!

My latest Royal Stetson is somewhat unique, with a backbow and a two-tone ribbon. Thanks to @Michael R. for the head's up on this one while I was busy at my niece's wedding. :)

I'm thinking - from my experiences - that your basic dirty hat doesn't need a real long soak time. It looks to me that the bulk off the dirt comes right off in minutes, negating the need for long soaks. I dunked and scrubbed 2 hats this morning, a grey Champ I got last year, and the thin...
Oh, I really am happy with these! LOL, I haven't posted my daily hats for a few times lately because I kept wearing these same 2 every day... especially the Champ; it's become my current grab 'n' go hat for most every occasion!
