Stand By - thanks for the great detailed response! You make many great points and I appreciate your input. And your example jackets are fantastic! Getting no feedback previously, I got with Siggy here on TFL and have already headed in certain direction. Here's is the current plan: While...

    Famous People in Flight Jackets

    Doolittle was 45 when the U.S. entered WW-II. Born - 1896; Died - 1993. The photos are likely late 1920s. http://www.af.mil/AboutUs/Biographies/Display/tabid/225/Article/107225/general-james-harold-doolittle.aspx

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

They're addictive - I bought one and ordered the second Bushman as soon as the first came in. I am glad they only come in two colors!

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I have two of them and like them very much. They seem to have a bigger crown that a CD and the brim is wider - to me they are more of a western/outdoors type of hat than the fedora-qualities of a Campdraft. As someone said in the Bushman thread "it's a lot of hat."

    Famous People in Flight Jackets

We’ve seen lots of WW-II pictures of GEN Jimmy Doolittle in his A-2. How about a few earlier pics of GEN Doolittle in his A-1 flying jacket? Here he is with some other pilot. This one does not look like leather when compared to other photos.

WW-II 8th AF Tribute Jacket - Looking for some guidance

I have decided to put together a WW-II “tribute jacket” and was hoping for some advice/opinions. The jacket is a tribute to my mother’s first cousin, 2LT Millard C. Miller, Jr. He was a B-24 navigator whose plane was shot down over Germany. He was severely injured and was taken prisoner after...

Seemingly insignificant things that connect you to the past

Having moved many times there are still unpacked boxes that contain quite a few insignificant items (old tools, etc.) that connect me to my past, but as I was reading through the posts, this is what came to mind. When I was little, my Mother had this bowl and always served me chili (and ice...

A-1 Jacket / A1 Flying Jacket - The ultimate Golden Era flying accessory!

I came across something in a different thread, but thought it would be more appropriate to mention here in the A-1 thread. Today I was viewing some A-2 photos from a link on a different jacket thread (http://www.goodwearleather.com/photos/vintage_photos) and one of the jackets in a crew photo...

    Flight jackets right length

Those are some great photos. One of the jackets in a crew photo caught my eye - I put on my glasses and enlarged as big as could get it and I am still not sure, but it sure looks like the second guy from the right is wearing a jacket with buttons?? I would have guessed an A-1, but that looks...

MODERN FUR FELT HOMBERG – 7-1/4 TO 7-3/8

I wear in between a 7-3/8 and a 7-1/2 and it fits me. I think it was mis-marked by SA as a 7-1/4.
