My boss told me that my attitude negates how nice I dress, and that I don't impress anybody, so I started wearing tee shirts and my German army jacket to work, and save my nice clothes for occasions when people actually have nice things to say.
I used to take a lot of pride in wearing suits...
Before: Scooped up this hat (sort've, this picture is from ebay, but it's the same) for a dollar from a local thrift store. Stetson Gun Club. Never a fan of braids, and the brim was way too wide (3 1/4 inches) so, away to work I went...
After: 2 1/2 inch brim, a slightly "better" bash, and a...
It's surprisingly difficult to be 100% on but I'd say stains. They just seem to be on the surface almost like the hat was brushed up against something wet. A gentle sanding or sponging might work
I'm selling a San Antonio , an OR clone, I scooped up an antique shop, despite the fact it's about 3 sizes too big! The size tag is gone and the production tag is so worn away, I believe it said 7 3/8, however it feels like a 7 1/2, maybe even 5/8. The hats definitely seen better days, it's got...
Speak for yourself! While I agree it's definitely a beater, I think beaters are the best kind of hat most of the time. If I had a 1940s Whippet in mint condition I'd be afraid to put it on my head! Not to mention, beaters are more in my budget. I'm sure I'm not alone...
Re-sewing/Replacing sweatband
I just acquired an old Resistol that I'm absolutely in love with.
However the ebay seller neglected to mention that the sweatband was coming un-sewn towards the front of the hat. Being a Resistol, the "self-conforming" sweatband is pretty comfortable, sans the...
The Rivoli got the vertical sign sometime in the 60s, I believe. Don't quote me on that, because that's a long time before I existed.
The theatre in both the Rivoli and the Bijou went out of business, so I guess the town couldn't handle two theatres, haha...
Now the Bijou is a bar that owns...
Here's a shot of my hometown's main street circa 52.
Here's the only sign left. An old theatre that's owned and used occasionally by the bar next door. My band has played there and backstage is pretty cool. Some might call it painfully outdated, but I prefer the term "vintage."
And lastly...
There's quite a few around here in rural Illinois. At least a couple for every little town, it seems. Galesburg has a couple really cool older ones, and some newer ones, too. I'll get pics of some if I can
