GHT- Much obliged. I happen to live very close to a major vintage fair that used to be held once a month with 300+ vendors (pre-covid ofcourse), how i miss the thrill of the hunt..and the nights out dancing..whoaa dont get me started ;)
the guy in the photo not much on words..that was my first go-to person. The spear point collar design was born out of the 1930's, and this spear point collar is very well made, its the single most attractive thing about this shirt as mentioned . Yes sorry its Commonwealth i meant to say..but...
Also the buttons on the photo suggest "an original" usually the repro's use crappy buttons, also if you look at his vest, thats a WW1 issue military vest, authentic to the best of my knowledge.
Actually i beg to differ on this, i thought the photo i upped looks more authentic (and i know the dude in this photo is a hardcore vintage junkie) and because the alternative repro's online look more like banana republic khaki shirts. If i may press you a bit more, can you be specific as to...
Salutations! I'm hoping there are enough militaria buffs to help me I.D. this shirt..or point me in the right direction. Obviously what got my immediate attention about this military shirt was the killer collar, it could be WW1 or 2 but i'm no buff.
Any heads up is cheerfully accepted.
Dear Loungers - Anyone holding on to an extra pair of these matching 1930's era side adjuster buckles and is willing to part with them please let me know...ive been searching high and low for almost a year. The Japanese are repro'ing everything (almost) under the sun including...
I tried googling "Oak Ben Outersole" but that yielded nothing..strange that there are no markings inside..then again it could be that the stamped info has completely faded over time.
Heyhey esteemed crew - Picked these up not long ago..no brand or info on the inside, just the details on the outsole, brass hardware, soft toe. Any suggestions cheerfully accepted.
jlee562- interesting thread about the history and cool photos, but i'm not sure what you mean by "well represented"? Just to be clear, my initial inquiry was about how common/uncommon this fedora is in todays marketplace...Yes i can post it somewhere an find out soon enough, but as i mentioned...
YES infact i did find it..his remarks are from Sept 3 2008, remark # 4 , thread titled " Stetson Nutria", atleast now you'll know i didnt make it all up..
carouselvic- He may well have, but i didnt check to see how old this particular remark in question was..i am just now starting to look into these hats so my research is in its infancy.
jlee562- i'm not suggesting i am the sole owner of this model hat, i'm sure it wont be too difficult to find...
i was basing it on an old post i read somewhere (on this forum) that "vintage habedashers" mentioned that in all his years of hunting vintage, he had never come across a "nutria" - its all relative i suppose but i consider him a serious authority on all things vintage.
DH- Assuming i were to sling it somewhere online, how much would you expect it to fetch?
I've been reading that a nutria stetson is a bit uncommon apparently.
Hi hatters! I picked up these two fedora's the other day..hopefully fellow hat lovers can chime in with insights (i.e. period /value)
Much obliged

The stetson has moth tracks as seen..and a bit crumpled.
The mexican panama below appears to be indecent shape although i'm...
