I'm starting to think that maybe US-A's consistency is a bit all over the place. I thought it was true to size, but for my 37" chest the size 36 was a touch difficult to drive in. (Felt like it was grabbing my upper arms and shoulders and pulling when I reached forward. Conversely, the 38 I...
This hat appears to be the new incarnation of what was formerly known as the "Casual".
Question; how well does it withstand repeated packing/crushing? I travel a LOT, and I've been on the hunt for a hat that I can smash down in a suitcase. (Which rules out the Fed IV, unfortunately.)
I've...
It's funny, I was having this very conversation the other day vis online shopping. I do most online now, too. And that's not motivated by a drive to save a buck, but because of the quality of goods, primarily.
In other words, I could walk into, let's say, a Macy's, and drop $500 on a leather...
Thanks. I don't think it was a "real" question per se, with practical application. It's just a thought I had as I was looking at this ebay find.
Of course, if the answer was "only once", then it would quickly change from academic musing to practical concern.
I bet they can. I was just wondering, out of curiosity, how many times that can be done before the jacket is shot. Once probably isn't a big deal. Probably not twice. But at what point has the leather been re-stitched to the point where it's just done?
Theoretically, how many times could this be done before the jacket is shot? I would imagine that, with leather, you can't just keep re-stitching over the same track; you'll just chew through it at some point. So the next option is that each time you replace you make the jacket shorter?
I was...
The thing about an A-2 is that it's utility wear. You don't want it to look like a sloppy sack, but if tightness in the back, shoulders, and upper arm is impeding movement, then it's really not functionally correct either. Sure, crossing ones arms should be snug, even perhaps tight, but a...
First, I highly recommend US Authentic. Great product, particularly at that price. And Shaul has been beyond patient in dealing with me this past month or more, truly above and beyond what you would expect for the relatively low cost of his product. I've had some drama regarding a poor size...
His jackets might be good. His military record, (upon which he markets himself), is, shall we say, over inflated. Much of this came out during his failed bid for public office.
He tried to sue the people who were questioning him, and then dropped the suits. He still markets himself the same way...
COW is nearly impossible to peruse now. Restricted access, need a paid email account to even register, etc.
US wings is out for two reasons. 1) because everything I've read about the fit and construction has been meh at best, and 2) because David Hack is a fraud whom I don't wish to support...
COW seems to mainly be concerned with discussing Peter Botwright and Wested. Mention of other jacket makers appears to be verboten, to a degree.
Cautious praise for the G&B Expedition would seem to be acceptable there, provided enough space is dedicated to apologizing for the screen...
If you don't care about a stitch-by-stitch reproduction, I heartily recommend US Authentic. Shaul does great work, though the paranoid part of my brain believes, a little, that his oddly long sizing is to compel everyone to order a custom jacket. I think he's a couple of inches long in every...
Does anyone own one?
Comments on fit, quality, etc? Pictures?
Trying to narrow this down, and while everyone knows the G&B Expedition, no one seems to have actually worn the Flightjacket.com / US Authentic version.
Since I resurrected the thread on color-contrasting knits, I figured I'd ask a different question: How many of you, if you were not specifically looking for an A-2/G-1/etc., type jacket, would opt for knits?
I think the number will be pretty low, given that this style of cuff and waist is...
Really thinking about it. I hesitate just because my only experience is with the sad stuff they issue now...which we can't fly with anyway.
But I would not go out of my way to buy the jacket I was issued.
