I'm open to suggestions :-D Cheers man :) I'm gonna try be the worlds coolest MF, hah. Well, for now until I sort out a buckle the jacket is otherwise complete :) :) Gave it a clean and conditioning this morn, really perked it up and gave it a beautiful sheen. Between the smell of the old...

Ok, adjusters attached! :-) Machine really struggled with these guys; 4 layers of leather plus the lining material! But we got there in the end and I'm very happy with the results.

Got the waiste adjuster straps made up, hope to fit them tonight :) Unfortunately I'm running low on original leather, so one of the straps has a line of stitch holes that I couldn't work around, but I shant lose any sleep over it.

DIY French Cycle Jacket (aka. Luftwaffe Jacket)

I like the look of the buckle so I'll see how that goes first, if not then this is certainly a contender. I do like that but a tad too modern unfortunately, although it'd add a twist to the jacket! ;-) If I could get one of those, but min purchase is 1000, I'd have 999 spares :-P Nothing...

Another little bit done... The cuffs looked a little...bare and were a bit worn too, worn very thin on the edge in a couple of areas. So, I put a band on them to tie in with the waiste band... Really makes a different, gives a more finished look I reckon. There are also close tabs...

DIY French Cycle Jacket (aka. Luftwaffe Jacket)

Thanks for the advice guys! :) Got another bit done earlier, ie the waiste band on which also tidied up the lining. End of the paper clips! :-) All three sections in place and side vents established... Close up of the vent. Have yet to make up the straps and D rings... Pity about the...

Cheers guys! Very happy with how its turning out. Going to recycle the old buttons from the sleeve for the pocket flaps... Been looking for a buckle like the one pictured below, but have had no luck, even something similar in style or closing, in fact, I've tried all kinds of search terms...

Ok, so got the zipper back in! T'was like pulling teeth *ba dum tssshhh* Lined up and being stitched back in... Couldn't wait to try it on then! Again, sorry about the poor quality pics, but you get the idea :-) I am wearing a sweater underneath it and try block out the oversized paper...

DIY French Cycle Jacket (aka. Luftwaffe Jacket)

Cheers :) Well spotted, the bonnet is indeed a GT6 bonnet in GRP, its not hiding anything exciting I'm afraid, just a standard (but reliable :p) 1332cc 4EFE block which is mated to the original gearbox with OD. I modified the front and rear bumpers as well as the rear lights, dash and other...

DIY French Cycle Jacket (aka. Luftwaffe Jacket)

Cheers, I put a lot of work into that Spitfire! :-) Would you believe this is how she looked almost four years ago now?! So I'm not a stranger to hardship, hah. I'm find of the MGB too, it was a contender before I chanced upon the Spitty project. The clam shell bonnet is indeed a blessing...

DIY French Cycle Jacket (aka. Luftwaffe Jacket)

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, its much appreciated!! :-) I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about posting here (ie the notion of chopping up a vintage leather jacket) but its all very reassuring. Couple of fit pics, sorry about the quality, hard to get a decent pic under...

DIY French Cycle Jacket (aka. Luftwaffe Jacket)

Thanks guys! :-) I should add I'm doing this work on a 60's vintage Brother home sewing machine, so nothing fancy. I have a walking foot attachment fitted, leather needle and Gutermann thread. So far so good... One of the main features of this jacket is the two flap pockets, with plenty of...

DIY French Cycle Jacket (aka. Luftwaffe Jacket)

To make life easier I picked up a bust with 'almost' the same measurements as myself ;-) Using this I was able to ascertain the appropriate lenght I required.... So with a good idea on lenght I removed the zipper, belt sections and started chopping as per the image in the at the end of the...

DIY French Cycle Jacket (aka. Luftwaffe Jacket)

Hi all! First post here, but have been enjoying many of the threads and incredibly envious of many of the beautiful jackets on display here! I've taken a recent interest in the French Cycle jacket, alternatively known as the 'Luftwaffe' jacket as of late. (Bartender Edit: Photos...
